Newtown Staff and Parents,
This morning, we were made aware that our district website was compromised, which displayed ISIS-type propoganda. Newtown was just one of multiple school districts impacted. Both local and federal authorities were contacted and are currently involved in investigating this issue. At this time, the Newtown website has been dismantled. Please know that there is no immediate threat, and all students and staff are safe..
If you should need information that was previously located on our district or school website, please contact Central Office or any one of our schools.

UPDATE:
Dear Staff and Parents:
I wanted you to have the latest information regarding the "hacking" of our Newtown website. We now know that over 800 sites were hacked across the United States. Our host server, School Desk, is located in Georgia. Currently, FBI is investigating this and are working with local authorities as well.
While we are confident that all staff and students are safe, we have increased police presence at all schools in the district. I have directed our Technology Department to keep our site down until further notice until we can be assured that security measures are in place.
