"STEPS TOWARDS CONGREGATIONAL HEALTH"
- A word from ECO Synod Executive, Dana Allin
It has been exciting to see that over fifty churches are officially participating in the Becoming a Flourishing Church material. We know that some churches are using the materials with their sessions but have not officially signed up, and others will begin to use the material in the fall. A few churches are using the material with their entire congregations to help increase the strength of individual discipleship as well as to get wider input into the health of their congregations... "ENCOURAGING CHURCHES THAT MAKE DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST"
- A word from ECO's Ecclesiastical Director of Support, Nate Dreesmann

Everywhere I travel for ECO, I'm asked, "What does the Executive Director of Ecclesiastical Support do?" Over the next several months my hope is to profile how ECO is helping local churches to flourish and how my position contributes to that.

I love Christ's church. I have worked for the church my entire adult life.  Ministry began for me after graduating high school, when I was hired to serve as the Director of Middle School Ministries for my home church in Northern California. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with incredibly gifted pastors and church leaders who nurtured my faith and developed me into a leader. As they invested in me, I was lead to pursue pastoral ministry.

I loved being a pastor of a local church. It was a gift to walk daily with a congregation that was striving to become more like Jesus Christ, learning to live faithfully to the commission that Christ has given to each of us...to make disciples of Jesus Christ..., and to grow Christ's church. In my new role as Director of Ecclesiastical Support, I am working to develop and refine systems in ECO that hopefully will help every church to flourish so that each one is making disciples for Jesus... The mission of World Renew is to join communities around the world to renew hope, reconcile lives, and restore creation.  Compelled by God's deep passion for justice and mercy, their ministry is three-fold:  community development, disaster response & rehabilitation, and peace & justice.

October of 2015 is vividly etched in the memories of a large percentage of the population of South Carolina. A storm system parked over most of the state, causing historic flooding. A year later, Hurricane Matthew caused additional damage... Learn more.

FEATURED CHURCH PLANT:
GARDEN CITY CHURCH
Garden City Church (Boston, MA) exists to make followers of Jesus for the flourishing of our city. Our vision is to join God in the renewal of Boston, beginning in our neighborhood of Jamaica Plain, by being a gospel-centered, culturally diverse, and faithfully present community as we cultivate deep relationships with God and one another.  - Brice Williams & Ken Liu, Co-Planters

GOD IS AT WORK IN OUR CITY
Greater Boston has seen exponential growth through the planting of new church communities in recent decades, what sociologists and local urban researchers are calling a ' quiet revival'. These are predominantly multi-ethnic and immigrant churches, highlighting Boston's increasing diversity. We believe that God is at work in Boston, and we believe in celebrating all that has been done.

THE WORK IS NOT YET DONE
There are people, places and systems throughout Boston that are still broken and need the hope of renewal, a kind of hope found ultimately through the person and work of Jesus. We believe that God chooses and empowers ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. We believe God uses broken people to help put the world back together again. We long to be agents of grace and advocates for our city. Learn More!
