Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

Halloween has wrapped up, and I wanted to highlight the amazing Spooktacular event put on by Parks, Beaches, and Recreation staff and community volunteers. Check out the pictures and short video link below!

I also want to highlight the City’s New Pacifica Library project. It is my hope that you have taken time to give your input to help imagine the vision and options for Pacifica libraries. The City has been engaged throughout this year in extensive community outreach about this project, a new phase of input following efforts over many preceding years and the failed construction bond measure last year. An update report about this process was recently provided on October 23, 2017 to the City Council. Community workshops, on-line surveys, engagement at public events such as Fog Fest, and the on-going work of the Library Advisory Committee (LAC) have generated a robust amount of community input. The LAC will meet again next week on November 8, 2017 (public invited; see Agenda for details) to continue its analysis of site and system options, helping to advise City staff and develop a final report for the City Council’s consideration in early 2018.

Of course, many other events and resources are highlighted below, something for everyone. Have a great weekend!

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you  for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica !

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager

  • Pick Up After Your Pet Before Rainy Weather - The rain is coming and we need your help. Pet waste left on sidewalks, streets, yards and other open areas can be washed away by rains and irrigation systems, making its way into storm drains leading into local creeks and the ocean. Pollution from the pet waste can harm the water quality and habitat. The pet waste contains harmful bacteria and parasites. Please help by cleaning up after your pet and keep the storm drains free of other harmful debris. For additional information please see the City's web page or the County's Water Pollution Prevention web page

  • Immigrants Gateway to Resources Booklet Published - San Mateo County Office of Community Affairs has released a new publication, “Immigrants Gateway to Resources” (available in both English and Spanish), to better assist those navigating the many resources available in San Mateo County. Copies in print are available at Pacifica City Hall, 170 Santa Maria Ave., and this information is also available online here: http://hsa.smcgov.org/oisc

  • Earn Incentives by Carpooling with the Scoop App - San Mateo County commuters are now eligible for up to $4 a day for carpooling using the Scoop app on their smartphones. The City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) of San Mateo County is offering this limited-time incentive as part of its pilot Carpool in San Mateo County! program to encourage County residents or commuters who work in San Mateo County to utilize private sector carpools during peak travel periods.Under the new program, commuters will sign up for the Scoop app, which automatically links drivers and riders to other users who are as close as possible to their origins and destinations. Once they've registered with Scoop, commuters will receive a $2 incentive per person during commute periods (5:30-10:30 a.m. and 3:30-8 p.m.) on their Scoop account, with a maximum incentive of $4 a day. Take advantage of the Carpool in San Mateo County!  It’s fun and convenient. You can save time, save money, reduce stress, and meet new friends. It is also good for the environment.
