	Center Program Review Student Sessions November 6-7, 2017 \| Campus Community Centers We are conducting Campus Community Center reviews to assess the effectiveness of our current programs and services as well as to gather information to guide the development of future EDI and Community Center priorities to better support student success. Our reviewer would like to meet with groups of students representing a wide cross-section of the campus community during his November 6-7 site visit, and to include both students who interact and chose not to interact with one or more of our Campus Community Centers. 	QuEST's Fall LGBTQ Social SIO Surfside, 8622 Kennel Way November 9, 2017 QuEST is San Diego's LGBTQ professional organization, whose mission is to create a community for LGBTQ professionals in science, tech, engineering, math, medicine and beyond. Join us for our spring networking event for LGBTQ graduate students, postdocs and professionals at all career levels. 	Artist Talk: Young Joon Kwak UC San Diego Literature Building Room 155 November 14, 2017; 5:00-6:30PM Join us for an artist talk with artist Young Joon Kwak on November 14, 2017 in the Literature Building 155. Kwak is a LA-based multi-disciplinary artist whose sculptures reimagine the function, material, and form of objects, in order to create spaces and scenarios that propose different ways of viewing and interpreting bodies as mutable and open-ended. She is the founder of Mutant Salon, a roving beauty salon/platform for experimental performance collaborations with her community of queer, trans, femme, POC artists and performers, and the lead performer in the electronic-dance-noise band Xina Xurner. The Coming Out group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender Identities in a confidential setting. This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, or questioning folks who are coming out, considering coming out or may already be out. Topics are determined by group participants and can include stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, family/cultural issues, excitement and celebration with regard to coming out. The group is open to new members the first 4 meetings of each quarter and then closes to maintain safe space.

Billy Mills Lecture

Billy Mills, Oglala Lakota (Sioux) is a gold medalist in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He accomplished this feat in the 10,000 meter run (6.2 mi), becoming the only person from the Western hemisphere to win the Olympic gold in this event.
He will be speaking about the pursuit of excellence and global unity through global diversity.

We are currently looking for a math/science tutor who can independently facilitate an after-school tutoring program for low-income/first-generation high school students at Monte Vista High School. Our overall program goal is to prepare our students for college entrance and success.

	Oasis Drop in Services The Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services offers math and science workshops to students led by a tutor who explains course concepts and encourages a collaborative learning environment. Current programs include MATH3C Study tables, located at Center Hall 375, Mon-Fri (10am-4pm). Drop in writing tutoring is also offered, where tutor and student will review writing prompts, brainstorm ideas and read papers for clarity and structure. Drop in writing tutoring is located in Center Hall 322, MWF (11am-1pm) and Tues/Thurs (1pm-4pm).
	CAPS Daily Drop-ins Want to gain skills to increase well-being today? CAPS Daily Drop-In Workshops are open to all currently registered students and are held Mondays through Fridays, 3:00-4:00pm. These workshops are a great opportunity for students to who are maybe having a tough day and want to gain skills to increase well-being that same day. 	I'm First Forum for Undergraduate Students Thursdays; 12:00-1:30PM CASP Office Student Services Center #555 In this informal, open forum, Dr. Roberto Luna from Counseling and Psychological Services will discuss topics that come with being the first in your family to attend college. Dr. Luna will also cover strategies and tips that students can apply to overcome challenges that face students who are "firsts." Themes will range from the imposter syndrome, marginalization and more. The first ten minutes of the forum will be presentation style to introduce the theme and will be live streamed on Facebook ( facebook.com/caspUCSD).
	CASP Veteran's Clothing Drive November 6-10, 2017 The Chancellor's Associates Scholars Program will be conducting a clothing drive as part of UC San Diego's Veterans' Week, November 6-10, 2017. All donations will be done to the benefit of the Veterans Village of San Diego. They will be collecting donations at their office, which is located on the fifth floor of Student Services Center, Suite #555, from November 6-9 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Items being collected include gently used clothing, interview clothing, blankets and jackets. 	Apply for the Graduate Specialization in CGS Application Open from November 6 - December 8 Rigorously interdisciplinary and forward-thinking, UCSD's Critical Gender Studies program has spent decades educating and challenging undergraduates through the study of gender, sexuality, and racial formation. The graduate specialization was added in 2016 to enable graduate students to enhance their research on gender as linked to race, sexuality and other social formations. 	Volunteer at the 2017 High School Conference! HSC is an annual event put on by the Black Student Union to increase the number of historically underrepresented students in higher education.
