Here's What's Happening at PCCS
Geography Bee
For the 3rd year, PCCS 4th-8th graders will participate in a Geography Bee. By the end of November, each class will hold a Bee and send a class champ to compete in the all-school Bee, which will take place in mid-December. Students can review Geography facts HERE. Please check with your child's teacher for the date of their classroom Bee. Good luck to all our budding Geography experts!

PBIS--Being Safe in the Bathroom
Being Safe in the Bathroom.  We all want the bathroom to be a safe and clean place to use. By using the equipment appropriately and telling an adult if there is a problem that we can't take care of on our own, we help keep the bathroom a clean and safe place for everyone at school to use comfortably.
Personal Responsibility
At PCCS, we are always working towards being Respectful, Responsible & Safe in all learning environments. Teachers work with students to help them be as successful as they can be, to grow academically as well as socially and emotionally. As a PBIS school, the staff works hard to acknowledge and reinforce positive behaviors so students receive consistent feedback on school expectations. Sometimes, increased redirection is needed when students have difficulty following school expectations, and teachers need to help shape behavior in a positive direction.

By partnering with parents, we can better accomplish this goal. You may have received teacher communication or have seen a "reflection" or "think it over" sheet come home. The goal of the sheet is to have students reflect on their behavior when they have broken a rule, to take ownership of their behavior, and to identify what they can do differently next time. At home, you can use the sheet to talk with your child about these things, and to communicate with your child's teacher. In this way, we are building personal responsibility in our students, and we appreciate your support as we all work together to help our students be the best they can be.
Veterans Day Assembly-Do You Know a Veteran?
This year we will be celebrating Veterans Day with a ceremonial walk to recognize those who have served their country in the Armed Forces. On November 10th at 8:15 we will meet at the flagpole near Lake Leopold to have a short ceremony and then a walk around the lake in recognition of those who have served. In addition to the school ceremony, we will be collecting donations (change) to help support the Lake County Honor Flight.   In order to help us guide the school in this celebration, please take a moment to complete the form HERE, then share it in an email to Mr. Zamiar.  Mr. Z will then compile the names and share with the classes. Thank you for supporting us as we recognize the Veterans in our community who have served our country so admirably. We hope to see all of you then.

PSO Corner
Annual Holiday Bazaar- Save your holiday gift-worthy donations! We begin collecting at carpool starting on  November 16th. Each of our children will have the opportunity to purchase gifts for both immediate and extended family members for the holidays. The collection of donations occurs each morning until the sale on  December 7th! Your donations of gently used items for all ages, gift bags, wrapping paper and tape are much appreciated!
SCRIP sales- With Thanksgiving coming up, plan ahead and get your gift cards now! With the money you spend at the grocery anyway, why not purchase SCRIP cards to Jewel, Mariano's, Target, etc. and help to earn money to give back to our classrooms! Also, SCRIP cards are perfect for your Black  Friday or Cyber  Monday shopping!
Chipotle- Thank you to everyone who came out to dinner at Chipotle! It was incredible to see how many families came together from PCCS. That evening we raised over $830! This money is used for teacher grants, and directly benefits our children. A special thank you to the staff that joined us as well!
Classroom Parties- A big thank you to Kristen Zimmerman, who is in charge of our classroom coordinators, our amazing classroom coordinators, and to every single volunteer who gave their time, donated food, supplies, or helped in any other way. It is because of you all that the parties were a big hit!
