"Way Down East" Silent Movie Screening with Jeff Rapsis

Join us for a very special screening of "Way Down East" (1920) with live accompaniment from Jeff Rapsis.
"Way Down East" is a D.W. Griffith melodrama set in old New England. Starring Lillian Gish and Richard Barthelmes, it was one of the top-grossing films of the silent era!
Jeff Rapsis is a writer/editor, educator, and also a composer and performer who specializes in creating live musical scores for silent film screenings.
Cost is $10 for MHA Members, $12 for general guests and includes refreshments.

Book Signing with Robert Perreault

Images of Modern America: Manchester

Short talk by the author at 2:00 p.m. Free Admission
The new book by local author, photographer, and historian Robert B. Perreault, Images of Modern America: Manchester, documents Manchester's recent history through photographs. Through his original images taken between 1971 and 2005, Perreault has documented Manchester's modern ever-changing cityscape. Published by Arcadia Publishing with a foreword by Gary Samson.
Both Robert Perreault and Gary Samson will be speaking about the book project at 2:00 and Perreault will be available to sign books following the talk.
This book is available to purchase from the Millyard Museum Shop for $22.99.

The Manchester Historic Association is an independent tax-exempt charitable 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization with the mission to collect, preserve and share the history of Manchester, New Hampshire USA. The Association operates the Millyard Museum and Research Center.
The Millyard Museum is located at 200 Bedford Street in the historic Amoskeag Millyard. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Research Center is located at 129 Amherst Street in the Victory Park Historic District. The Research Center is open to the public on Saturdays 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., and Wednesdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Admission for both facilities is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors (62 and over) and for college students, $4 for children 12-18, and free for children under 12. Group rates are available. Please call (603) 622-7531 for more information, or visit the website www.manchesterhistoric.org.
