Attendance (Long Term Absence): All current data shows that consistent student attendance is essential in the promotion of academic success and achievement.  Unfortunately, there are situations where a student's illness may result in a long term absence.

To minimize the impact of a long term absence, it is imperative that a parent/guardian apprise  the Dean of Students, Attendance Office of any situation where it is anticipated that your student's illness will result in an absence of (3) three days or more.  Once the Dean of Student's Office is notified, the information will be forwarded to the Guidance counselor and the Vice Principal of Academic Affairs, so that a long term plan can be developed  to manage your student's academic workload. The Guidance counselor will contact you and act as the liaison between the student and teachers. Below are the Guidance counselor's assignments are as follows:

Grade 9: Mrs. Cortese Ext: 105
Grade 10: Mr. Lewis Ext:109
Grade 11 (A- Lynch): Mrs. Barry Ext: 110
Grade 11 (Lyras- Z): Ms. Sullivan Ext: 112
Grade 12 (A-Lisnak): Mrs. Barry Ext: 110
Grade 12 (Lui- Z): Ms. Sullivan Ext:112

From the Nurse's Office
Parents are reminded that all Juniors need a physical.  Please schedule appointments if physicals haven't been returned yet and return completed forms to the nurse's office.

The start of winter sports will be here before we know it!  Any student trying out for a winter sport must have a current physical on file in the nurse's office.  Practice/try-outs begins  November 6th for swimming and ice hockey.  Sports physicals for these sports are due no later than  November 3rd.  Practice/try-outs for all other winter sports begins  November 20th and physicals are due no later than  November 17th.

If a sports physical becomes a year old during a sport season, there is a 10-day grace period from the date of the last physical to obtain a new one.  If no physical is returned at the end of the 10-day grace period, the athlete must sit out of sports until a new physical is returned and cleared.  If possible, a courtesy reminder will be sent from the nurse's office, but as noted in the student handbook, it is the responsibility of the student/parent to ensure sports physicals are current.

Please contact Mrs. Veneziani in the nurse's office with any questions.
