Dear Parents/Guardians
On Tuesday of this week our Pre-K and Kindergarten traveled up the street to visit Waters Edge Home in their Halloween costumes, which brightened the day for the patients. I was extremely proud of them for reaching out to bring joy to those who need some cheering up in their day.
Monday, November 6th is picture retake day. Pictures will be taken in the church hall beginning at 8:00 AM.
I would like to thank everyone who has contributed pictures and artifacts for our Veterans Day Table. They are proudly displayed. If you would like to loan pictures of loved ones and family members, please send them in and we will add them to the display. The display will be set up through next week.
On Wednesday, November 8th we will be having a Veterans Day ceremony in the school gym immediately following morning prayer. The ceremony will consist of the history of Veterans Day, guest speakers, and performances from the school band and the 2nd and 3rd grade classes. Everyone is invited to attend. The ceremony will begin at approximately 7:30 AM.
Lorra Webb from Mercy High School will be directing our Drama Program this year. She will be meeting with the drama club on Thursday, November 16th, 3:15 to 4:15 PM in the St. Mary Parish Hall.
As part of our community outreach we are conducting a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown. The drive will begin Monday, November 6th and end Friday, November 17th. All non- perishable food will be accepted. The students brought home a flyer with food items requests for each grade.
Also, St John Paul II school will attend the 8:30 Mass at St. Peter's Church in Higganum on Sunday, November 19th. I ask all our school families who can attend this Mass to please come and celebrate with us and the Parish of St. Peter. Please have your children wear their school uniforms. This outreach to the parishes of the Middletown deanery is important for us to show our appreciation for all the parishes who support our school. In future months we will be attending Mass at other parishes. I ask you for your support on this outreach endeavor.
Finally, I have great news. Over the long Veterans Day Weekend, the site work for our playscape will be completed! Beginning on Tuesday, November 14th the company will be on site to erect the "Explorers Dome" playscape. This will complete phase 1 of our playscape plan.
Also, on Monday, November 13th, a load of playground mulch will be delivered to the school that will need to be spread. We are asking for parent volunteers with rakes and wheelbarrows to help us beginning at 11:30 AM on the 13th. Also, another load will be delivered on November 20th to be spread under the dome playscape. We will need volunteers for that day also beginning at 11:30 AM.
