Two of our favorite traditions at Guthrie County State Bank are our snow gear collection and contribution to 3Cs in Panora and New Opportunities in Guthrie Center and our Christmas Open House events. Protect your account from debit card and skimming fraud

Skimming devices were recently found on several gas pumps and ATM machines in central Iowa. These devices can capture your personal info and card data for the potential of fraud and theft. Guthrie County State Bank continues to work hard to protect your information and the potential for fraud. Read on to learn some ways we are working to keep your data safe.


Growing our team to expand our services

We've added some new faces at Guthrie County State Bank to increase our concentration on serving our customers in ways that are convenient to them.

Shannon Neff-Muell joins our team as Universal Banker. Shannon graduated from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Journalism and Women's Studies. Most recently, she was employed at State Farm Insurance in Guthrie Center. Prior to State Farm, she was employed by Aramark Uniform services and Professional Property Management, Inc.Shannon currently lives in Casey with her husband and two children, and is actively involved in the community with the Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Guthrie Center, Guthrie Center Lion's Club, and Kid Zone Early Learning Center's fundraising committee.

Laura C. Smith also joins us as a Universal Banker. She graduated from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA with an Associate of Arts degree.
Most recently, she was a personal banker at Shelby County State Bank in Elk Horn, IA. Prior to the bank, she cared for children at Time for Tots in Harlan, IA. Laura is a native of Elk Horn and recently became a resident of Guthrie Center. She looks forward to getting more involved in the Guthrie County community. In her spare time she enjoys biking, reading, movies, and spending time with family and friends. 

Kate Brown was hired as our Operations Specialist.  Kate has extensive experience with SHAZAM in the ATM and debit card area and was most recently a project coordinator with Data Business Equipment (DBE). Kate lives in Panora and has three sons. She is a graduate of Valley High School and enjoys writing, reading and competing in the Highland Games.   
New designations for Crouthamel and Kemble

We're proud to announce recent new designations for employees of our sister companies. Congratulations to these professionals!

Laura Kemble, Lake Panorama Realty, recently obtained her broker license. This process involved 72 hours in the classroom and a brokers examination. She joins Head Broker, Dave Wagler, in achieving this level and will be the Associate Broker as there can only be one Head Broker in each office. Lake Panorama Realty is the only local real estate company having two brokers.
 
Kristen Crouthamel, GCSB Investment Center, recently earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designation. The designation signifies specialized knowledge of fiduciary responsibility and the ability to implement policies and procedures that meet a defined standard of care.
