AAEDC & Southwest Airlines Join Forces

Annapolis, Maryland (October 26, 2017) - The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation launched the Runway to Success Program Powered by Southwest Airlines. The program aims to assist Anne Arundel County small businesses with travel to out of state conferences and meetings as a way to enhance their marketing and sales or provide for workforce training.

"As part of our commitment to increasing Anne Arundel County's business base, we continually seek ways to support companies that are working hard to take that next step in growth," said AAEDC CEO Julie Mussog. "We thank Southwest Airlines for this partnership that will help our businesses expand and be successful."

"As the name sponsor of the program, Southwest Airlines will provide AAEDC with ten travel awards to be distributed to qualified local businesses," said Karen Price-Ward, Southwest Airlines Community Affairs and Grassroots Regional Leader.  "The program is a win-win-win for Southwest Airlines, AAEDC and local businesses that want to explore an opportunity, seal a deal, or build on their professional development."

Runway to Success is targeted to businesses with under 100 employees that generate annual revenue of less than $10 million. Companies will be required to detail their marketing goals, travel plans and staff assignments. Approved companies will receive travel awards for up to two employees.  AAEDC plans to award all ten travel awards by the end of 2017, however, business travel can occur any time after that deadline.

How Incentive Travel Motivates Your Team
Randy Officer
B y Randy Officer - Director of Global Business Solutions, Travel Leaders Corporate

We've all imagined the image of relaxing on the beach with a cold drink with our significant other.. You can actually hear the water crashing into the shoreline and feel the warmth of the sun. Even the salty smell so familiar to the ocean can be present when dreaming of this perfect g etaway. It is this type of visualization that makes incentive travel a success. Employers understand the impact these programs can have on productivity or attitudes in the workplace. An enticing getaway offers continued motivation long after the trip has been experienced. Individuals perform the same visualization tactic when a trip becomes a possibility in a work environment. This vision feeds a person's longing to earn such a reward consequently allowing companies receive improved work ethic, an inspired staff, and astounding productivity.

The Inspirational Benefits of Fulfilling Unobtainable Desires
Incentive travel must meet hard to obtain individual longings to be truly effective for an extended period. You w ant to offer something that promises long term company loyalty and the unique experience necessary to foster continued drive. Cash awards are short lived meaning the incentive disappears as soon as the monetary amount does. Travel provides memories unlike any other reward since pictures and conversations are available for motivational backup. This direction also allows the hardest working staff members to get a break, socialize with management and be recognized in front of peers for their efforts. Additional factors make incentive travel the best choice for team mo tivation. Here are a few reasons why these programs deliver better results:
  • Once in a lifetime experiences provide bragging rights
  • Destination rewards are remembered long after the actual trip
  • Employees view cash as a form of compensation
  • Trip possibilities remain in the mind throughout the entirety of the campaign
  • Travel experiences encourage increased efforts
  • Capability of providing a memorable experience inspires performance
While selected performers  actually receive the award, the idea itself increases the output of every person who has the possibility of winning. Various surveys show equivalent results making incentive travel the best direction for obtaining productivity, sales, and individual work ethic improvements. Companies choose this direction as a way to receive organizational benefits, while supplying the recognition necessary for incomparable group or individual effort.

These programs can deliver astounding results when they are organized well and defined correctly. Companies desiring to offer such rewards should ensure that the program has easy to understand goals, an exceptional itinerary, and the inspirational elements necessary to foster productivity. Various aspects determine how a reward is perceived by individuals. They then justify if the required effort is worth the achievement offer and gain reinforcement through the trophy value of the award. A trip supplying a high monetary value, improved status, and is viewed as an achievement igniting a level of increased motivation. We can help you incorporate these aspects into a goal oriented program to ensure this endeavor is not only affordable, but a worthwhile company investment.
