Message from Dr. Spurka
2017 CCRPI
This week the Georgia Department of Education released the 2017 College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) for all schools in Georgia. The CCRPI is the way the Georgia Department of Education measures schools and school districts and gives them a rating on a 100-point scale. We are so excited to announce that our 2017 score is a 99!  This is a two-point increase from last year and nearly a perfect score! This is a reason to celebrate!

The vast majority of the CCRPI score derives from student performance on the Georgia Milestones End of Course Tests, our graduation rate, as well as our student attendance.  We are very proud that our graduation rate continues to be one of the highest in the metro-Atlanta area at 98.2%. While our student achievement data earned us a 99 on our CCRPI score, it also revealed areas we can improve as a school.  We will continue to disaggregate our data and work with our teachers during GROWL to ensure we provide the best possible educational experience for each and every one of our students.

We believe that our school has an exceptional learning environment, and that is partly because of your support as a parent or guardian. We are very proud of all of our support programs, such as PAWS, CLAWS, and this year's new program called GROWL.  All of our programs provide support and valuable learning opportunities for our students to truly personalize their high school learning experience and prepare for life after high school.

As principal, I am proud to serve this community which continually strives to improve. Thank you for your continued support, GO BEARS!

Sincerely,
Dr. Spurka

Bell Schedule: GROWL and Week of November 6
Week B Schedule
After evaluating our first two months of GROWL, we received consistent feedback that adjusting the bell schedule to a traditional 1st - 7th structure, after GROWL, would provide better support to all student schedules. Next week during our November 8 GROWL, we will begin this new order of periods following GROWL.

Please note that this simplified structure does push back our lunch periods, and we encourage students to bring a snack should they feel their lunch period begins too late in the day.

Also, next Tuesday we will have an extended passing period between 2nd and 3rd to allow students to pick up their 2nd six-week Interim Progress Report. Tuesday's bell schedule has been adjusted slightly to accommodate this event. Please view next week's schedule, and the new "Week B" schedule here
Cambridge FFA Ag Communications places 1st in Nation

Congratulations to Brittany Breedlove, Aalia Garrett, Cailey Doyle, and Hayley DeSandre for taking first place in the National Ag Communications competition last week in Indianapolis. This is the second year Sarah Nerswick has lead Cambridge to this title.

Also competing for Cambridge last week: Maddie Feely and Allie Maloney presented for the Premier Chapter in the Nation for Vet Camp, and Meaghan Bybee and Allie Maloney presented for Model of Excellence National Chapter Award. Cambridge placed top 10 in both areas. This is the first time in history that a Chapter from Georgia has placed this high for the top National Chapter Award.

District Honor Chorus and FFA Chorus
On October 27-28, eight of our Singing Bears participated in District V Honor Chorus, held at Grace United Methodist Church in Atlanta.  It was an amazing experience to work with Dr. Stanley Roberts, Director of Choral Activities at Mercer University, and collaborate with musicians all across Fulton County. They performed an incredible concert and we are proud of their representation of Cambridge High School!  The students who participated are G illian Graeme, Kendall Lisa, Zoey Wagner, Megan Graham, Abigale Spragle, Ian Shea, Zach Frazier, and Kendall Warner.

Additionally, Grace Fabio , a member of Cambridge's Chanson, traveled to Indianapolis, IN to participate in the 2017 National FFA Honor Chorus. They performed at the National FFA Expo & Convention for hundreds of educators and attendees.  Congratulations to Grace for her amazing achievement!
