FTR ROCKS #Giving Tuesday
58 Generous Donors have Given $11,090
toward our $15,000 year-end match.
Add YOUR Muscle to our Campaign Today!

At FTR, we're strong in lots of ways, including giving! Marching toward a $15,000 match offered by a generous donor, we are three fourths of the way there. But we need to reach our $15,000 goal by year end to earn the match. Funds will go toward expanding our classes and improving our gym facility -- including building a beautiful new kitchen to support our 4 Pillars! Please CLICK HERE to help us DOUBLE THE DIFFERENCE we make in recovery. Thank you and Happy Holidays from all of us at Fit To Recover!
Fitness: Who's Ready For a New Sticker Challenge?

The board is up and our new sticker challenge starts December 1st.  As many of you remember, those tiny stickers have the power to actually make you stronger. Somehow they pull you into the gym when nothing else can, and with this snowy weather that's awesome!

The Simple and Sinister program which is just what it says, Simple.  It consists of 100 swings and 10 get-ups every day.  You can do this during any class at FTR. IF you have your own kettle bell, you can do it at home. Follow this link to purchase a kettle bell, the Simple and Sinister book or both!
If you order using Amazon Prime's smile program, proceeds go to FTR.
Remember, if you want Amazon to donate to Fit To Recover Inc, you need to start each shopping session at the URL http://smile.amazon.com, and they will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible purchases.

Look for our new FTR transformation opportunity with
The Logbook Challenge .  Using a simple practice of keeping a log, we will chart our progress as a team.  Using that one-of-a-kind FTR community spirit, participants will grow strong together both inside and out. This will be unlike any training you've ever done.  Sign up information will be highlighted in next month's newsletter and we will start mid-January.
Creative Arts:  River Reading & New Session of River Writing

Rimini coffee roasters opened their aromatic space to FTR's River Writers for an evening of spoken word.  It was a packed house where the audience laughed, cried and reverently bore witness to sacred stories. In a palpable display of the 4 pillars' strength in all areas, these 9 people shared their inner strength. It is clear that Fit to Recover is more than just a gym. The event was inspiring and many left with a curiosity circling their minds,

"What would I write?  Could I do that?"

If you share these questions, we invite you to join us for the next sessions of River Writing starting in January.  You can register online with Mind Body, or see Sarah Kappos and Georgia Gregersen in the gym.

Nutrition: Holiday Potluck; Mindful Eating For the Holidays
Let your Gratitude Show in All You Do

FTR is hosting a Family Potluck Dinner December 16th .  We have so much to celebrate this holiday season and what better way than to celebrate together?  We will have healthy gingerbread house making for the kids, or those of you who are creative kids at heart!
Join the Facebook event for details:
Holiday Potluck at FTR

Last month, FTR members gathered to learn more about being mindful during the holidays, healthy holiday recipes, and finding gratitude for our food and ourselves!  Attendees were reminded to slow down and enjoy their food, to celebrate the company of those around them, to involve family and friends in fun physical activities, and to try to incorporate healthy, seasonal vegetables on their tables.

Community Service: Candlelight Vigil and O utreach

In a very stirring gesture, Rachel Santizo is organizing a Homeless Outreach event on Christmas Day.  She will be stationed off Rio Grande with coats and zip lock bags full of goodies (so if it it snowing the items stay dry). Those who are outside in the cold can receive a little warmth, a coat, a bag of good ies, candy cane and something warm to drink.
Please follow the link below for details.  Even if you cannot attend, donations are deeply appreciated by this little woman that could.

In her own words,
"It's an honor to serve with all of you."

On Tuesday, December 13th at 6 pm The 4th Street Clinic is hosting their Candlelight Vigil to honor those who have lost their lives to homelessness.   Even though this event is only about 30 minutes long, it is a stark realization of what it would be like without a warm home.  Standing with feet in the snow, attendees hold a candle and a moment of silence.
Please join our community service coordinator Rachel Santizo to hear her read the
names of each individual.  For her, every single name matters.  As a person who was once homeless herself, Rachel knows the value of these lives.
