Dear Friends,

The final week of Advent is upon us!  It is almost time for the arrival of the greatest gift of all, Jesus Christ.  I am sure the anticipation is building in your house as it is in mine.  Children seem more excited, on edge, and sometimes moody this time of year.

I always find that it helps to remind children about the true meaning of the season.  Their anticipation of the arrival of Santa and all of gifts he brings is exciting, but it is a metaphor for the waiting for the real gift, God's love in the form of his son Jesus.

Our students became the teachers last week when they showed the joy and love of Christmas through the nativity scene and songs at the annual Christmas Concert.  The Parish Hall was packed again as our precious gifts performed for us and reminded us that love is the ultimate gift.

Students in all grades have been participating in service projects this holiday season.  I had the pleasure of accompanying the first grade class as they delivered gifts to the church giving tree that they purchased for needy families.  They learned a valuable lesson about sacrifice and generosity towards others.

I hope that you find the time to share these messages with your children leading up to Christmas.  The gifts under the tree are great and fun, but not as awesome as the gift in the manger.

I wish you all a happy fourth week of Advent and pray that you and your families have a happy and healthy Christmas.

Merry Christmas,

Steven J. Santoli
