CincyIP is excited to announce CincyBrand 2016, CincyIP's  premier conference dedicated solely to branding and the intellectual property protections used to build up and secure those brands.

Developments In Trademark And Unfair Compeition Law 

On March 15, Ted Davis o f Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP  presented on developments in trademark and unfair competition law over the trailing twelve months, with a particular emphasis on the invalidation under the First Amendment of the prohibition in Section 2(a) of the Lanham Act on the registration of potentially disparaging marks, continued judicial disagreement on the evidentiary value of registrations on the Principal Register, and emerging applications of the Supreme Court's opinion in B & B Hardware, Inc. v. Hargis Indus., 135 S. Ct. 1293 (2015).

Meet IPCLJ: The  University of Cincinnati Intellectual Property and Computer Law Journal

CincyIP is proud to recognize an exciting new academic initiative taking flight at the University of Cincinnati College of Law: the Intellectual Property and Computer Law Journal ("IPCLJ").  

IPCLJ is a student-run law journal dedicated to furthering knowledge associated with the research and practice of intellectual property law, computer and technology law, and related fields concerning domestic and international media and telecommunications policy.  In the spirit of the very technology underlying its mission,  IPCLJ provides  an online platform featuring rolling publication to allow its readers easy access to published material and enable the Journal to publish a variety of content in an efficient manner.  

IPCLJ released  its very first issue in early 2016, featuring two articles: Dueling Monologues on the Public Domain: What Digital Copyright Can Learn from Antitrust by Timothy K. Armstrong (Professor of Law, University of Cincinnati College of Law); and  Requiring Plaintiffs to Prove Irreparable Harm: "It Isn't Right." (Herb Reed Enters, LLC v. Fla Entm't Mgmt. Inc. (9th Cir.2013) , by Anthony Kremer (Student & Senior Editor for IPCLJ 2015-2016).
