Merry CHRISTmas, Happy Chanukah
May this be a blessed and Holy time for you and yours!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever
believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you
good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Luke 2:10
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,
who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11

Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual festival commemorating the birth of
Jesus Christ, ( whom Christians believe is the Son of God, one of three personalities of God, the Creator and I Am, along with the Father and Spirit or Holy Ghost). It is observed most commonly on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. Also called: Noël, Nativity, Xmas, Yule.  Western Christianity and some Eastern churches; secular world; January 7; Some Eastern churches; January 6; Armenian Apostolic and Armenian Evangelical Churches; January 19.   Christmas around the World Here

For our Jewish friends, Happy Chanukah, the Jewish eight-day, (12/25/16-1/1/17) wintertime "festival of lights," celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special
prayers and fried foods. The Hebrew word Chanukah (also spelled Hanukkah)
means "dedication," and is thus named because it celebrates the rededication of the Holy Temple. More

++ Citing wasted tax dollars and attacks on the constitutionally guaranteed liberties of the American people, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.) introduced a bill to restore U.S. sovereignty and withdraw from the United Nations. The effort to de-fund and exit the UN comes amid growing scrutiny of the global organization, often ridiculed as the "dictators club," and myriad mega-scandals swirling around it. However, despite ever-growing support in Congress for restoring U.S. sovereignty by withdrawing from the UN over the years, the legislation still faces an uphill battle.
In a  statement last week announcing the   American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2015 (H.R. 1205), Rep. Rogers noted that many of his constituents in East Alabama would likely agree with his position that U.S. government participation in the UN should end immediately. "The U.N. continues to prove it's an inefficient bureaucracy and a complete waste of American tax dollars," the congressman said, echoing widespread concerns about the international outfit expressed across America and worldwide. "I do not believe that the solution to our problem is simply to elect the right people. The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing. Unless it is politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing, the right people will not do the right thing either, or if they try, they will shortly be out of office." ++ Chinese Billionaire Moving Manufacturing to the U.S. to Cut Costs - the head of a leading Chinese glass maker making the same move has openly questioned if his country really is such a lucrative destination for offshore factories, reports Hong Kong newspaper the South China Morning Post.
"Overall speaking, the tax burden for manufacturers in China is 35% higher than in the U.S.," Cao Dewang told China Business Network  in an interview
. He added that a combination of cheap land, reasonable energy prices and other incentives means that, despite higher manufacturing costs, he can still make more money by making glass in the U.S. than by exporting Chinese-made panes to the U.S. market.

Comment: How does one become a billionaire in China? Only with solid Communist connections and beliefs. Do we really want to import that? American manufacturers forced to build facilities in China (Like GM and others insisted on it) are told they must have an equal Chinese Communist partner with full access to company technology, systems and know-how. We are experiencing the largest technology transfer in history and paying for all of it, twice. For decades we have been taken advantage of, by so-called free trade. In the Reagan Administrations a core group worked endlessly to assure USA interests in natural resources and manufacturing capabilities. USA policies since have drained the USA of wealth and capabilities as China and others have sapped World precious resources and stolen our capabilities. The new Trump foreign policy appears to be equal reciprocity. Bring it on!

++ Trump's budget director pick: "Do we really need government-funded research at all" - President-elect Donald Trump recently picked Rep. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina to head the White House's Office of Management and Budget. This typical MSM article is not supportive, but confirms OMB will be in conservative hands!  Article

Comment: That was a significant question in Reagan's first term. We concluded that government research should be limited to very classified necessities (weapons, nuclear and space programs, e.g.) and limited long term research that was a significant need but not in the purview or scope that the private sector would invest in it. Having this policy allowed us to end massive demonstration projects costing billions of dollars that were not extending our knowledge and were not in the public interest to fund.

++ Save 20% on your vehicle registration fees if your birth date is in the next six months and your renew by 12/29/12 - (maybe share a portion of the savings HERE to help us fight for YOU as we seek less government and lower taxes!)

Cost of driving in Michigan about to rev upward as fees, gas tax jump - Renew NOW at the 2016 rates! Rate increases will cost Michigan drivers $200 million a year more! Taxes are on the costs of a new vehicle regardless of age, condition or true value. In effect, this is discriminatory against poorer and larger families locked in to buying an older and larger vehicle.
Shiva Ganganithi got a bit of a shock just ahead of his Jan. 3 birthday when the notice for his annual vehicle registration arrived in the mail recently. He owed $339 in renewal fees, an amount he called "astronomical" compared to the previous rates for his 2011 and 2007 Toyota Priuses.
"I called the (Secretary of State's Office) and I asked what was going on," said Ganganithi, a 25-year-old who works in the finance department for General Motors. "They said I was three days over when the new bill kicks in, but if you pay before the end of December, you'd be grandfathered into the current rate."
The fee hike may be a surprise for some Michigan drivers  - Ganganithi found out via a Michigan License Plate Renewal Notice sent to his Sterling Heights home last month  - but it's been in the works since Gov. Rick Snyder signed a series of bills in November 2015 as part of a $1.2-billion road-funding package. Michiganders still have some time left to renew their registration with 2016 prices, if their birthday is within the next six months. More
From the SOS:  Dear Christine,
Thank you for using the Department of State's web site.
Individuals may renew their license plate up to 180 days/six months prior to the renewal date.  Public Act 174 of 2015 increased most vehicle registration fees by 20% beginning January 1, 2017. The increase in registration fees applies to most passenger and commercial vehicles. Motorcycle and trailer fees did not increase.
Individuals or companies renewing before January 1, 2017 will pay their renewal fee based on the 2016 registration fees. Individuals renewing after January 1, 2017 will pay the new registration fees. Please be aware that the last day that the Secretary of State will be open in 2016 is Thursday, December 29, 2016.
If you have other questions, feel free to contact us at 888 SOSMICH (888-767-6424). Have a great day!
Sincerely, Department of State Information Center  (Thanks, Christine!)

++ $ 2,000 a student for "diversity" re-training? The University of Michigan's new chief diversity officer will collect $385,000 a year under his various job titles, including a new one created by a recently revealed $85 million, five-year  U-M diversity plan The $85 million plan is in addition to the $40 million a year the university already spends promoting diversity.  Earlier this year, university officials increased tuition by 3.9 percent for in-state undergraduates on the Ann Arbor campus.
YOUR MONEY AT WORK!!! ONLY IN GOVERNMENT DO YOU HAVE NO REAL SAY ON HOW THE MONEY WE EXPEND IS USED. GOVERNMENT IS FORCE. GOOD STEWARDS OF OUR BLESSINGS REQUIRE US TO WATCH AND REACT TO WHAT GOVERNMWENTS ARE DOING WITH THE MONEY THEY TAKE FROM OUR FAMILIES.
Robert Sellers' appointment to a new position called "vice provost for equity and inclusion and chief diversity officer" (VPEI-CDO) was approved Oct. 20 by the university's governing board. Sellers previously served as "vice provost for equity and inclusion," and is also listed as a professor of both psychology and education. In 2014-15 Sellers was paid $347,295 in his capacity as vice provost, a position created in 2014.

++ Grand Valley State University Sued For Discriminating Against Conservative Students - Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys representing a conservative student group at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) filed a federal lawsuit against the school last Wednesday after the students faced discrimination and threats of arrest from campus administrators.
University officials told members of the Turning Point USA chapter at the school that they could not hand out pocket constitutions and talk to students about the First Amendment because the members were not standing in one of the university's two Orwellian "free speech zones."
GVSU police and administrators told club founder Tim McKeeby and member Joe Tucker that they would be arrested for trespassing if they didn't cease their pro-free speech activism. In one incident, campus police told the students "if you continue to stay here, then we'll need to arrest you." More   (Thanks, Alex)

++ Governerd wants Trump to pay for a new Lock, claims favor with VP Pence, but refused to support him. Link  The difference here is that the Lock has supporters that may have clout in the Trump Administratiion, like new Congressman Jack Bergman who represents the area and did support Trump/Pence.

Comment off FB: Nikki Snyder Another question I have. Based on our State leadership not addressing properly vetting or preparing for refugees, why would one be so quick to accept border security as a genuine reason we would push so heartily for a second bridge? It's a great rhetorical pitch, but it requires consistency that hasn't been demonstrated....

We suspect Mr. Snyder feels a little like conservatives trying to get his attention for things that are important to us - like Republican principles of less government and lower taxes, and government on the lowest possible level to the people. "I hopefully can build a good relationship with the president-elect," Snyder said. "But in particular, one person I have had a real good relationship (with) is the vice president-elect." As President Trump said twice in Grand Rapids: "It would have been nice to have had help from Michigan's Governor." As for Snyder's national security concerns, I do not recall any particular expertise of his in that area. Another 1,000 foot lock next to existing one does not significantly mitigate the possibilities of sabotage. It would have to be miles away to provide protection from bombs, etc.

++ On the Michigan GOP State Chair race: It appears at this time there are two candidates for MRP State Chair: Trump Michigan Campaign Chair Scott Hagerstrom (former state chair of AFP) and new University of Michigan Regent Ron Weiser, who helped raise money for the Trump campaign and once served as MRP Chair.
Then there have been the purges of conservatives from the GOP that Mr. Weiser helped fund. With all due respects, Mssr. Weiser and DeVoss tried to pass Freedom To Work (then Right To Work) in 2006-7 and failed. Yes, the airwaves campaign may have been missed without money support but Freedom To Work would not have passed in 2012 were it not for the fantastic effort of Michigan Conservative Union, it's MiCPAC conferences and Right To Work Task Force, MiFreedom To Work, Michigan Freedom To Work, Inc. and the awesome efforts of thousands of volunteers they recruited, trained, inspired and coordinated. Volunteers passed out more than one million fliers and changed public opinion 16% in just a few weeks. Our grass roots work inside union workplaces is a story still not told or appreciated.
The money brokers in the GOP have never truly respected conservative activists who have been taken for granted and promised. without results. They have not succeeded without awesome efforts by grass roots that they condescend to but typically refuse to work with. Mr. Weiser boasts about "his" great victories in 2010. That would not have happened without the 138 tea parties plus numerous other grass roots organizations and volunteers who did all the new work. Money alone has never won. The GOP alone has never won.
So, lets see if either candidate will reach out and share the power and planning with We The People. UpRight Michigan PAC has an admirable success rate at MRP state conventions, nomination more than 80% of the candidates we have backed. We will not get involved in this and other races if there is not a candidate among us, or if we cannot be assured conservatives will share in governance of the Party.

++ Too much regulation controlling our rightsSix months prison for installing a modest wind turbine next to his home, and not being able to structural remove all of it's foundation - behind his home not visible from any neighboring property.   Link
Michigan Conservative Union has advocated for eliminating the state income tax several times over several years. Promised cuts were not given. Property taxes are also terrible. Governments are trigger happy on grabbing peoples' land. As a county planning commission chair your editor went to a statewide planners conference where a primary presenter said the property all belongs to the government, and it is on loan to people and businesses who "rent" property through property taxes. Such is the sick mentality of those who ignore property rights - real. personal and intellectual. Our work continues - with your help. Please join in 2017 so we can build our support and resources.

++ The 2015-2016 legislative session is OVER! It was one of the most liberal and highest taxing sessions is memory. The energy bills passed 12/15 are slightly improved but still terrible for free enterprise and consumers. Link

The votes of Lauwers and Leutheuser,
Franz, Graves,
Sheppard and others is very disappointing. They claim and campaign as conservatives, but support more regulations and higher taxes. They just do not believe enough in personal freedoms and free enterprise. (Thanks, Randy)

We are hoping the next session will finally be conservative
