Here is to Strength, Not Despair: Three Things You Can Do to Help our Environment
Environmental protection was once an issue where people across the political spectrum joined forces. We're increasingly seeing efforts to make this a wedge issue - that pits one set of Americans against another.
Let's choose a different course - joining together, whatever our background, in protecting of the air, land, and water that is our shared heritage.
Instead of despair and worry, let us band together to ensure that no Hoosier, rural, suburban, or urban is at risk from contaminated air or water.
Here are three things that you can do today:
1.
Give
Your financial support allows us to host workshops, provide assistance to communities hurting from toxic pollution, and to be your voice in the Indiana legislature and Indiana courts.
Giving today is more rewarding than ever, as your donation will be matched one for one, thanks to the generosity of the Efroymson Family Fund and an anonymous, Indiana-based donor!
2. Get Involved
We need caring, hard working, and warm people like you to engage your fellow Hoosiers. Join a volunteer phone bank. Host a house party. Write letters to the editor. Meet with your lawmakers. Join our next training session and become a part of our
"Environmental Advocates"
Program!
3. Spread the Word
While HEC has the largest social media presence of any environmental advocacy
group in Indiana, so many Hoosiers don't know who we are. Spread the word on Facebook or Twitter. Forward this e-newsletter to a few friends. Word of mouth is the most powerful means we have to strengthen our collective impact. If you want to find a powerful way to describe HEC to your family and your friends, look no further than
this wonderful column
by the Indianapolis Star's Matt Tully about HEC.
Wishing you strength, resilience, and hope this holiday season!
