AUGUST 13 | Back to School Sunday & Blessing of the Backpacks. 

Y'ALLELUIA CHOIR
Sunday, August 13 - 9:15 a.m. in the Nave
Have you long dreamed of singing with the St. Andrew's choirs, but can't take time away from your competitive cat herding schedule for rehearsals? You're in luck! 

Come sing in St. Andrew's Y'alleluia Choir, an ad hoc ensemble that will meet for the very first time on August 13.

We'll learn an accessible anthem (maybe two!) to sing during the 10:00 service and practice the hymns to help lead the congregation's singing.

All ages and skill levels are welcome. No vesting, processing, or folders to manage - just show up and sing!

Introduction to the Atrium, Sunday, August 13, at 11:00 am 
in the Catechesis Work Room upstairs by the atrium. 
If you are a parent of a 3 year old and interested in sending them to the Level 1 atrium in the Fall, make plans to attend this Intro Class led by Frances Morrison.  She will cover the basics and answer any questions you might have about the atrium.  All interested are welcome.  For further information or questions, contact Rachel Misenar at [email protected] or call 601-573-3689.

Children's Chapel Training, Sunday, August 13, at 4:30 pm at the home of Rachel Misenar.  Have you ever been interested in leading our precious children during Children's Chapel?  Or maybe you need a refresher course?   If so, make plans to attend our training!  Frances Morrison and Rachel Misenar will be on hand for demos, questions and practice!  If you plan on attending, please email Rachel Misenar at [email protected] or call 601-573-3689.  Hope to see you there!  Everyone welcome!

Theology and Literature While we could start our new classes on August 13, it would mean meeting at 9 am and I will be traveling the next weekend. Therefore we will start on August 27 with Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita. Music will include Russian traditional and contemporary classics and an opening number by the great Meatloaf.
TUESDAY | AUGUST 15
Music in the City  will be held Tuesday, August 15, at the Mississippi Museum of Art.  John Paul and Rae Shannon, Pianists presents Symphony  No. 7 in A  Major by Beethoven.  Played in a transcription for One Piano, Four Hands; Cocktails at 5.15 pm with the program to follow at 5.45 pm. Music in the City is a gift to the community from St Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral. The Ms Museum of Art and the Wise, Carter Law Firm.

St. Andrew's will be back in full swing
beginning Sunday, August 20.
 
Our worship services will begin at their regular times,
7:30 a.m. 8:45a.m. and 11:00a.m.
 
There will be an Adult Formation in the  Parish Hall at 10:00 am  "While we are waiting...how to be a church in transition"
 
Also, there will be a Catechesis Open House and  Orientation for parents and children ages 3 year old - 5th grade.  They will meet in St. Francis Hall to meet their  catechist and take a tour of the atrium.

EYC is gearing up for an awesome school yearbut we need your help!  Please (1) join the EYC Parents or the Jr. & Sr. High EYC group in The City, and (2) send an email to [email protected] so Jamie can create a new e-mail list.   Our first meeting, for kids and parents, will be held at 10:00 Sunday, August 20, in the Youth Space downstairs.

AUGUST 22 | Dean's List "Fellas hanging out and making a difference.  Join us tonight, August 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall for The Dean's List. This is a men's group that (usually) meets on the third Tuesday of every month with absolutely NO agenda other than gathering for good food and good conversation. Here's how it works. You bring a meat of choice (steak, fish chicken, etc.) and a beverage of choice (leaded or unleaded).  We provide a salad, bread, and baked potato.  We ask that you bring a suggested donation of $10 which helps offset costs BUT also helps raise money for important mission projects.  So, please join us, hang out and make a difference. 
AUGUST 27 | First Sunday with Interim Dean Ron Pogue.
SEPTEMBER 6 | Women's Book Study  will begin meeting every Wednesday night in St. Francis Hall on Wednesday, September 6.  We gather at 5:30 pm for refreshments and hold our book discussion from 6:00-7:00 pm.  Our first book is  The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,  by Rebecca Skloot.  Books are available at Lemuria and for a 10%  discount if you tell them it is for our study group!  All women are welcome!  

WEDNESDAYS IN SEPTEMBER | Mark your calendars for VBS REMIX 2017!  

Join us every Wednesday night in September for music, crafts, games and fellowship!  VBS Remix is for children ages Kindergarten through 5th Grade!  Meet us at 6pm in the EYC space downstairs!  No registration required. We will gather for dinner at 5:30 pm and the Adult series will begin at 6:15 pm.

    • Get crafty making crosses with Becky Magandy!  Sticks and yarn and fun,,,oh my!
  • September 27 - Community Outreach Project Night (for children and parents)
    • Join Sidney Ferris and Kim Sewell for a creative and wonderful family Community Outreach Project...Cathedral Rocks!  Making our community brighter...together!

Additional Tracks (For Adults)
During VBS Remix, parents will gather in the Parish Hall for classes on being a Modern Family.  Make plans to attend!

Modern Family Series:  The baptismal font, which stands ever present in the middle of our worship, is a constant reminder of the promise we make to support one another in our new life in Christ. It is a promise we make each time we baptize, each time we welcome someone into the family of God.  Join us Wednesday nights for our Modern Family series beginning September 6, as we discuss what it means to support each other as parents, grandparents, friends, caretakers, companions, pilgrims on the Way in the family of God.

Bagging Groceries at the Stewpot is in desperate need of volunteers:  St. Andrews will bag groceries the week, of Monday, Aug. 14 -Friday, Aug. 18, from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  We have added 3 volunteers a day to the list.  If you are able to help out, please sign up!!!  This is a busy time of year for Stewpot, so if you are able, please give them a helping hand.  A sign up sheet is in the Rotunda.
