BWI Summer Youth Initiative
August 7-11

Unde r the leadership of CEO, Ricky Smith, MDOT-MAA, BWI Airport staff and partnering stake-h olders are producing the  3rd  Annual Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall Summer Youth Initiative this week. The program, which exposes 50 at-risk Baltimore 5th & 6th g raders to the world of career opportunities within their reach, is only made possible with the help of our sponsors.  Many thanks to the following BWI Business Partnership Members who have contributed to this year's program:

Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week
August 13-19

This year's Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week   runs from Sunday, Aug. 13, through Saturday, Aug. 19. Qualifying apparel and footwear sold for $100 or less, per item, is exempt from the 6 percent state sales tax.  The state has a detailed list of what is taxable  and what is exempt from Maryland's sales tax that week.

JOINT SERVICE WELLNESS & REMEMBRANCE INSTALLATION RUN

Installation Commander Col. Tom S. Rickard will join more than 1,800 Fort George G. Meade service members and civilians from 22 units in the Fort Meade Joint Service Resilience and Remembrance Run. The annual run commemorates the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. In addition, the run is a demonstration of one pillar in the five pillars of service member resiliency; family, emotional, physical, spiritual and social.
