THIS SUNDAY IN WORSHIP
JANUARY 1, 2017

ONE COMBINED WORSHIP
SERVICE AT 10:00 a.m.

"Collards and Covenants"
Eddie Pipkin Preaching

On New Year's morning (Sunday, January 1st), we will  have one combined worship service at 10:00 a.m.  It will be a great way to start off the New Year, with a celebration of fellowship and our declaration to be dedicated to God's purposes in 2017.  Part of the worship will be using the core of the Wesley Covenant Renewal Service, a powerful Methodist tradition.  We have completely rewritten and modernized this wonderful introspective declaration of our intent to live as disciples in the year ahead.  We also have some unusual hymns and choruses lined up for you, particularly suited to beginning a new year.

WEAR YOUR TEAM GEAR:  For fun on New Year's morning we are asking everybody to wear their favorite football fan gear (college or pro).  Come decked out in your team colors!

Sermon Series - New Year, Same Promises
"New Year, new you": this is the message we get from pop culture year after year.  We vow to make changes to our diet, exercise, habits, or lifestyle, but in spite of those resolutions, most things stay the same.  This may be cause for disappointments, but there is some consistency to celebrate.  God's promises to us do not change with the calendar or the latest fitness trend.  Rather than focusing our energy and attention on making (and in all likelihood breaking) promises to ourselves, let's spend the first part of the new year appreciating God's unbreakable promises and what they mean for how we live.

Second Saturday Campus Work Morning - January 14
Every month we hold a second Saturday campus work morning.  Our commitment is to have a specific list of chores or projects to complete each month, and that our work will begin at 8:00 a.m. and finished no later than 12:00 noon. This will be an opportunity for many people to contribute their gifts and time in a way that will be rewarding and fulfilling.  There is no obligation to show up every month.  No skill set or handy man capabilities required.  Just love for our church and the desire to serve. Hope to see you on Saturday, January 14th!
Peace 25th Anniversary Celebration - January 15

You don't have to go through the grieving process alone. Our next class session will begin on January 12, 2017, meeting on Thursday nights from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. For more information about this ministry, contact Gloria Barber at 407-276-4025.
