Story Time at HLFM

At 9 am, Jennifer Noonan, the new Children's Librarian from the Lewes Public Library, will read Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert. This book is ideal for sharing, and features a series of progressively longer tabbed pages that, when viewed together, create a rainbow of garden color to explore. Story Time is for ages 3 to 8, but children of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend with their parents. This weekly program is a partnership with the Lewes Public Library and the HLFM. Story Time takes place at the tent near the playground at the park.

Win a Classic Cruiser Bike at the Market!
We continue our tradition of holding an Annual Bike Raffle. This year we are giving away a bike that really celebrates the summer season--a 2017 Sun Revolutions 26" single-speed classic cruiser. This peach-colored bike has a very cushy saddle, and we've added a white basket for all that fresh produce, white streamers, and a classic bugle horn to announce that you have ARRIVED at market.

Tickets for the raffle are free, and the winner is drawn on Labor Day Weekend. In order to enter the contest all you need to do is fill out a ticket (allows you to get this newsletter) at the HLFM Information Tent. You can enter every Saturday you come to the market, so come often and your chances of winning get better.

If you just cannot wait for the drawing you can also purchase this beauty from Seagreen Bicycle, 209 Monroe Avenue, Lewes, DE.
SNAP AND WIC AT THE MARKET

The Market offers the SNAP (EBT Food Stamps) program at the Market. To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the Market to pick up the bonus $20.

In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. WIC coupons can now be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Market.

Time's Running Short to Give Away What Others Might Like!

The HLFM and the Greater Lewes Community Village (The Village) enjoy a special relationship based on a shared commitment to the well-being of people in the greater Lewes area and active community involvement. The Village members can request a ride to the Saturday HLFM by calling The Village at 302-703-2568 at least 3 days in advance.

We ask that you support the village and its 4th Annual Attic Treasure Sale, a unique and fun fundraiser! Support the Village two ways:

#1: Donate special items (sale donations are tax deductible) that you no longer need by taking items to the new sale location at 830 Kings Highway (the old Rise building) every Wednesday and Saturday 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.

#2: On the Day of the Annual Attic Treasure Sale, Saturday, September 2nd from 8 am to 3 pm, purchase that unique item, while enjoying a food and fun community gathering.

For more information, contact The Village Office at 302-703-2568 from 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. We all need to support The Village, a very special community partner.
