WHAT'S NEW AT DAPHNEYLAND

DAPHNEYLAND HOUNDS GO TO 
HILAROO  FOUNDATION YOUTH CAMP!

Daphneyland is not your usual rescue organization. For the third year in a row, we have been privileged to be invited to participate in the Hilaroo Foundation Youth Camp which brings children in foster care together with hounds who are also waiting for their forever homes. The pictures speak for themselves. Kudos to Dawn and all of the Daphneyland Wranglers for giving up two weeks of their lives to help run these camps and bring the hounds every day to work with the kids.

Achievements come in all forms. The Hilaroo Foundation Youth Camp 2017 brought Hillaroo, Foster All and Daphneyland together to interact in therapy and companion animal training.

Volunteers of all backgrounds participate in heart healing work to bring us all together.

Moments of team building happen throughout the week long camp.

Rescue hounds are brought in after extensive rehab work, to interact with youth, volunteers and each other in a pack setting.
Every morning the youth walk their dog, feed them and perform basic duties - all to show responsible companion animal care.
Therapy, training and interaction happens throughout the day as the teams build confidence and trust in each other.
Daphneyland Wranglers handle the hounds in off times when the kids may be at a class, activity or group session.



These amazing gals are the face of Hilaroo. In the last 3 years we have come to love them as Daphneyland Family. Thank you Shannon and Krystin for your incredible hard work!


Munster was a hound living on a chain in Mexico. After vet care, training and rehab, he participated in Hilaroo this year. Quite a change from his former life.

A dog has no alternative agenda, other than to be mans best friend. The perfect Therapist.




Therapy comes in all sizes and places.



The face of a job well done. Both human and hound completed Agility.


Achievement Awards are handed out - and make an impact on these youth that have worked so hard to begin the healing process of a hurt heart.


Most important is the trust that is built between souls.



The youth write impact letters to their hounds.



Each letter warms the heart.



The letters help rescue hounds in determining what areas we can work with the hounds on to show them a better future.

Each step of the way the entire team encourages and applauds! Team Spirit is the number one goal. We are all in this together!



Even the hounds join in for woofing up a storm to cheer each participant on!



Sunshine in your soul is not just an expression.


The hounds work hard all week long in training and interaction. Thank you to The Harness Lead - the best training tool we could have !

During the heat of the summer, being aware of your hounds needs is critical!



Basic training is needed in every step along the path.


A hound that formerly was a problem child has been "Graduated" and will do wonderfully with youth after the Hilaroo program.



Senior dogs are perfect in this program, teaching patience and encouragement. The time and effort pay off in pure love.


Leash work is a wonderful tool! Thank you Harness Lead for this brilliant leash that enables youth to handle weave poles, jumps, walking and pulling issues.



Cooling breaks help campers and hounds spend a little quality time together.


Volunteers keep the hounds entertained.

Payment for the hounds comes in many forms - bellyrubbing is indeed an art form.


The Honest Kitchen Smoochies help keep a hound focused during agility!
