Massage and Bodywork
at Blueberry Gardens
Many people find that massage and bodywork are powerful tools to assist in taking charge of one's health and well-being.

There's nothing like a soothing massage! Massage is a general term for rubbing and kneading of muscles and joints of the body, and it has several benefits.

The touch of a massage safely relieves muscle tension and pain, reduces stress and anxiety, promotes sleep, may help decrease cancer symptoms and the effects of cancer treatments, may boost immunity and may help prevent or treat injuries. Research has shown that therapeutic touch may help one feel more comfortable in his or her body, which contributes to healthy self-esteem.

In a typical massage session, the client undresses to their level of comfort or can remain fully clothed and lies on a table covered with a sheet.

At Blueberry Gardens , our practitioners offer a variety of forms of massage and bodywork:

Swedish massage involves the use of long strokes, kneading, vibration, and tapping or circular movements. The same techniques are used in a deep tissue massage, but the pressure
is more intense and the primary goal is to reach the deeper
tissue structures of the muscle fibers to assist in releasing
muscular tightness.

Using the Muscle Release Technique™, the massage therapist applies pressure to a muscle while moving the muscle through a stretch. This action helps to release the muscle, to reduce pain and to restore flexibility. Clients are taught stretches so that they can create their own stretching routine on a regular basis to maintain the muscle flexibility.

The Trager® Approach uses two separate but related processes during the session. While lying on the table, the practitioner gently moves the body through motions including rocking, rolling, stretching and light compression. Because of these movements, the receiver experiences a feeling of deep relaxation and an increased freedom in movement. To enhance and maintain this feeling, the client is taught instructions on self care.

Zero Balancing (ZB
) is a hands-on body-mind system that balances the relationship of energy and structure within the bones and tissues of the body, releasing stress and tension and enhancing the body's natural healing process.

During a Hot Stone massage session, the therapist uses Swedish massage techniques with smooth, flat, heated basalt stones.
It may help achieve a deeper sense of relaxation.

Craniosacral therapy is a subtle, gentle, calming approach to bodywork that uses light touch to the head, neck and back regions to relieve a variety of discomforts including headaches, TMJ and sinusitis. Releasing the constrictions of the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid may help create harmony and balance among the body's systems.

Contact us to find out more about how these bodywork modalities can help you relax, ease discomfort and feel healthier.
