Do you know about
St Luke's Table?

St Luke's Table is a Community Ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa. They provide services and support for the homeless or those at risk of homelessness. The goal of the centre is to provide a supportive environment where visitors can maintain and improve their personal and mental health. Along with breakfast and lunch, they provide health services, crisis intervention, practical supports such as hygiene supplies, computer and telephone access, assistance finding community resource information and on site outreach services from several community agencies.

Located in the basement of St Luke's Anglican Church, 760 Somerset St West, St Luke's Table receives over 46,000 visits each year from individuals seeking a place to be a part of a community where dignity and freedom are valued. Participants volunteer daily and are an integral part of the services.

To learn more about St Luke's Table and how you can support their program please  visit their Facebook page: St Luke's Table    You can always donate to St Luke's Table (or any of our Community Ministries) by simply leaving a cheque in the Sunday Collection plate or drop it at St John's Office marked "St Luke's Table"

A summer series for This Week at St John's subscribers. Each week we are posting a photo or two of interesting items/features that can be found in the building. Do you recognise them? Do you know where to find them?

Challenge your friends, help the newcomers, or feel free to share a story about one of these St John's "artifacts."

For those who like to keep score you can always take your own photos of the found items and track how many you've found by summer's end.

A new Hollywood Film

powerful story about Anglicans, Farmers and Refugees!

 starts August 25th

Our friends at PWRDF want us to know about a new Hollywood film entitled "All Saints" it will be released by Sony Pictures and opens August 25 in Ottawa. www.allsaintsmovie.com

The film is based on a true story and follows a corporate salesman-turned Episcopalian priest whose first charge is All Saints, a quaint country church in Tennessee with only a dozen members. His assignment is to close the doors of the struggling church for good and sell its prime real estate. But when the church begins welcoming Karen (kuh-REN) refugees from Burma—former farmers looking for a fresh start in America—he feels called to an improbable new mission.
