Federal Govt. Still Not Approving Minnesota's Compact Law 
In mid-July, the Board of Medical Practice experienced another setback in implementing the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact law when it received a letter from the FBI stating that recently passed legislation to bring Minnesota's law into federal compliance does not pass muster. Read more here
Save the Date: Gubernatorial Forums to Focus on Health Care
The MMA and the Zumbro Valley Medical Society will host gubernatorial forums this fall at the Rochester Community and Technical College, Heintz Center Commons, 1926 Collegeview Rd E, in Rochester. The DFL event will be Tuesday, Oct. 17; the GOP forum will be Monday, Oct. 23, with both lasting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Both events, which will focus on health care in Minnesota, are free and open to the public. MIPS Resources Readily Available for Physicians, Practices
The AMA continues to hear from physicians who feel unprepared to participate successfully in Medicare's new Merit-based Incentive Payment System. In particular, physicians who have never participated in Medicare reporting programs before need basic information on how to avoid a payment penalty in 2019 through minimal reporting in 2017. MEDPAC Reception at Annual Conf. to Feature Prior Auth Authors
Sen. Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) and Rep. Rod Hamilton (R-Mountain Lake) will be the featured guests at a MEDPAC reception at this year's Annual Conference in Rochester. Nelson and Hamilton carried the MMA's medication prior authorization legislation this past session. MEDPAC is the MMA's political action committee. The reception will be 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22 and is for all members who contribute at the Annual Conference, which is the start of the 2018 MEDPAC membership year.
