Summer's Almost Over

President's Message:

This summer has been such a busy one, with lots of travel for us to disability conferences. Our team has been stellar at supporting me in getting ready for each of the workshops where we shared our experiences with hundreds of families. Included in this travel was the Abilities Expos, speaking on behalf of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation (in New Jersey, Chicago, and Houston). We also presented at the Angelman Syndrome Conference in Phoenix (yes very hot there), Charge Syndrome Conference in Orlando, the Chromosome 18 Conference in Naperville, IL, the Special Olympics Illinois Able Act Conference at the Summer Games and the 5P Minus Conference in Milwaukee, WI. Add to that, the Gigi's Playhouse Parent University Workshops we have every month, and we have been on the move! I love meeting the family members, hearing their stories, and hearing how we might help even more than we are today.

The upcoming months don't slow down, and we continue to stay focused on education of families. But we also have a chance to give back with our Tails for Life Fundraiser in September called Wine for Wags.  We love making a difference one pup/child at a time!

And some big news is our upcoming Parent-to-Parent Workshops, focusing on Residential and Employment. Read more in this issue.

I can't believe I'm saying "where did the summer go?" It was a great one though. We welcome hearing about your summer adventures as well.

Warm Regards,

Mary Anne Ehlert,
President & Founder
