Executive Director
transition BEGINS!
After 5+ years with Ag in the Classroom and 3 years as the Executive Director Avis Jolly prepares to pass the baton. This summer while school was out a portion of the AITC's Executive Committee screened and interviewed candidates and are very pleased to announce Ann Wofford has been hired as the Incoming Executive Director.

Ann brings an incredible breadth of experience including currently serving as a Camino Union School District trustee, as a member of the El Dorado Ag Council ( El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce), the secretary of the El Dorado Winery Association, a member of the El Dorado Farm Trails Association, as a board member of the Camino Community Action Committee, and is a Board Emeriitus at MORE: Motherlode Rehabilitation Association. Previously Ann was the Association Director of the  Apple Hill Growers Association, served on the  El Dorado County Farm Bureau board, and was a member of the Education Committee of  Women's Fund El Dorado. Along with husband, Paul and brother-in-law Mike, Ann owns Wofford Acres Vineyards...AND she is a long time Farm Day volunteer and AITC supporter.

Avis Jolly plans to continue to support Ag in the Classroom

AITC
Fields of Learning Coordinator inducted as 2017 Honorary Farmer
We are so proud of our Fields of Learning Coordinator, Cherie Combs, who was inducted at the end of May as an Honorary Chapter Farmer by the Ponderosa FFA. She not only values her FFA Student Leaders in her program but genuinely cares for them as young adults. We are so proud Cherie, for your dedication to ag education, from the smallest preschooler to these fine high school leaders.

That makes two for AITC, as Executive Director, Avis Jolly, was inducted in 2016.

APPLE VIDEO AND LESSON PLANS available for fall curriculum
El Dorado County Ag in the Classroom has a series of educational videos and accompanying lesson plans with multiple activities aligned to Common Core Standards.  All the videos were shot right here in El Dorado County, so students will recognize many of the sites they will see, therefore making the content more relevant and relate-able.  Don't forget our all about apples video for your fall curriculum and pre/post-teaching field trips to Apple Hill farms.

All videos and lessons located here .

16th ANNUAL
PLACERVILLE
FA RM DAY
HUGE
SUCCESS
FARM DAY breaks records AGAIN
The 16th Annual Farm Day was held on May 9 at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. This year saw a record-breaking 60 hands-on agricultural education stations for nearly 1700 3rd grade students, teachers, and chaperones from El Dorado County.

In addition to the over 200 community members who participate that day as presenters or general event volunteers, we could not do this without our event sponsors. We are incredibly proud and grateful for this year's supporters  including: El Dorado County Farm Trails,   Placerville Fruit Growers Association , Apple Hill Growers Associatio, Kiwanis Club of Placerville, El Dorado County Wine Grape Growers Association, EN2 Resources, Inc. , Sierra Pacific Foundation, Pacific Gas & Electric, El Dorado County Farm Bureau, Barsotti Juice Company, El Dorado County Water Agency , El Dorado Disposal, Sierra Foothill Water Management, El Dorado Backyard Beekeepers, El Dorado County Fairgrounds, and  Rainbow Orchards.   We also would like to thank Ron LaCombe of Safety Quest Training, who provided the first aid station for the day.
