Busy Summer at RHTH
We appreciate everyone who helped to make this past month our busiest July ever since we opened our doors to transplant families in January of 2013. Grateful to so many loyal friends, wonderful new transplant families from all parts of Wisconsin, all across the country and even as far away as Nicaragua who have called RHTH home this past month.
We also owe a great deal of thanks to so many of the transplant coordinators and hospital staff for their continued support, kind words and referrals of transplant families to Restoring Hope. Thank you all for making this such an enjoyable summer!

A Home Away From Home For VA Transplant Families
Restoring Hope Transplant House has been honored to begin partnering with the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital to provide housing for veterans and their transplant families this year as initial transplant procedures for veterans are also performed at UW Hospital before moving to the VA side for the majority of their post care. These additional families have kept us operating at or near capacity when there had previously been occasional vacancies.
Such wonderful people with truly incredible stories...we are thrilled to have them and grateful for their service.
With the increased demand for rooms from transplant Veterans and their families, we will desperately need the additional space in order to accommodate everyone. With renovation and expansion plans in place to give RHTH the additional space our families need, we now need your help to share these stories and transplant miracles throughout the community in the hopes that other compassionate donors will embrace the cause and our visitors as their own through their kindness and with financial contributions. Please help by sharing the mission of Restoring Hope to anyone who may be interested in supporting this cause.

RHTH Guests By State: Transplant Families From 35 Different States

Our First Guests From Kentucky
The Bluegrass State of Kentucky recently became our 35th different state from which we have hosted a transplant family. A true credit to the world-class transplant program at UW Hospital that families come from all parts of the country in search of live changing transplants. We currently have a kidney transplant caregiver here all the way from Nicaragua and have also hosted families from Calgary, Hong Kong and London. Amazing the people we have had the good fortune to share a house with over the years!

It's incredibly inspirational to see our good friend Steve and his wife Kelly using their heart transplant gift of life to help make the world a better place. Steve was recently named a Lions Club District Governor in Northern Illinois and he and wife Kelly are continuing to do so many great things in their community and also to help raise financial support and awareness for Restoring Hope Transplant House. Roughly 20% of our RHTH guests come from Illinois...many of them from communities very close to Steve and Kelly. We send our heartfelt congratulations and love to them as they lift our collective spirits in all they have accomplished post transplant and how emotional it is to see how much they care for the other families who call this place home. The spirit of our guests make this house a home!

Cory's Gift Run/Walk For Organ Donation
The transplant community is an extremely tightly-knit group of people who often feel connected for life with their donors, recipients and others who have gone through very similar journeys. It is a very special bond.
We are always moved on a very emotional level to hear of families who honor lost loved ones who heroically gave so much in their passing to other families in need through transplantation. These people deserve our love and their memories should be celebrated. We would like to thank everyone involved in the recent Cory's Gift Run/Walk for honoring a special organ donor and contributing the proceeds in his name to transplant related charitable causes including Restoring Hope Transplant House. What a blessing you all are to so many!

. The most beautiful weekend of weather we've had all summer for a spectacular event...hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

Guest Rate Increase Coming In September
In closely analyzing our operating costs, we have found that our nightly $35 per night rates are no longer sufficient to cover the significant increases in our operating expenses.
As a result, Restoring Hope Transplant House will be increasing our rates for the first time since opening our doors to $45 per night for regular guest stays starting on September 1, 2017 to help offset many of those costs.
Restoring Hope operates as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. There is a very common misunderstanding that leads many to believe that Restoring Hope Transplant House is operationally funded by UW Hospital or other significant donors like the Lions Clubs of Wisconsin. That is not the case. We cherish our relationship with our partners and donors, but it is largely the modest funds generated by guest stays, monthly pledges and fundraisers from transplant families and friends that helps to offset our regular operating expenses which is why a rate increase is necessary at this time. We thank you for your understanding as we move forward.

Summer Fun And Great Restaurants Are Just Steps Away
Downtown Middleton is such a great community for our transplant families to call home. We are blessed with such a wide range of amazing restaurants, beautiful trails, friendly people and fun activities. Always fun to see our guests out and about enjoying The Good Neighbor City like some of our families did last weekend during National Mustard Day as we all sampled Mustard Custard from Culver's, so many tasty mustards and treats and enjoyed great live music. We cannot thank everyone in the community enough for all they have done to embrace Restoring Hope and our transplant families over the years. Being here in this environment is oftentimes a very key step towards recovery, so we appreciate all of our Good Neighbors.

Financial contributions are so crucially important to any non-profit and RHTH is certainly no different. We appreciate Donna from the Horicon Lions Club for their recent donations, gift cards and for contributing so many of these supplies that we use on a daily basis. It makes such a difference.
We are also actively searching for major donors to help with our joint efforts with the Lions Clubs of Wisconsin and others to help push us over the top for our extensive plans to renovate and add on to the current house as well as monthly donors and fundraisers to help with operating expenses. This will ensure that Restoring Hope Transplant House becomes a longtime fixture in both downtown Middleton and in the transplant community. Support the transplant community when you make a secure online donation via PayPal to Restoring Hope Transplant House. The $35 a night we currently charge transplant families is not nearly enough to offset our regular expenses so we depend almost entirely on your generosity. During a typical summer heat wave, our air conditioning bill alone can be several hundred dollars each month. Please help if you can - your contributions are critical!

Ted's Trek - August 25th in Weston
Our good friends with North Central Wisconsin Donate Life recently donated $4,000 to Restoring Hope Transplant House to help with so many of the families we welcome from that area. We hope you will join them for their always popular Ted's Trek Glow Fun Run/Walk event held in memory of a very dear friend on Friday August 25th up in Weston.

Dance Fundraiser In Oshkosh
Restoring Hope Transplant House was chosen by Beta Sigma Phi as their state service project for the next three years. One of the nominating members knew a guest that stayed at RHTH which we understand was a very important part of being selected.
How grateful we are to this group and all of our visiting guests who help spread the word about Restoring Hope throughout their communities. What a difference these grassroots efforts can make.
An Organ Donor Dance Fundraiser event is being held once again this year up in Oshkosh this September 10th with proceeds going to benefit Restoring Hope. We appreciate this event and the long-term commitment to the house and our families!

The Muenchow family hosts this outing in memory of their father, Steve. Steve was a two-time kidney transplant patient. His first transplant was in 1991 from a deceased donor and his second transplant was from their beautiful mother in 2007. Their father passed away suddenly in 2014 due to stage four terminal lung cancer. He had a passion for the game of golf, and an even greater passion for organ, eye, and tissue donation!

Restoring Hope Transplant House is a non-profit home established to serve organ and bone marrow transplant patients and their families. The home features six generously-sized guest rooms, multiple sitting rooms, full kitchen, laundry, cable tv, wi-fi and a tranquil yet convenient location in downtown Middleton, just five miles from UW Hospital.
