Steam Into History - Coming Up at Steam Into History

Saturday, August 12 at  9:30 am

On Saturday, there will be a steam ride to Seven Valleys that will leave the New Freedom Station at 9:30. This will be our maiden voyage to Seven Valleys and we are going there to celebrate their 125th Anniversary of Seven Valleys. The train ride will take our guests to Seven Valleys where they will depart and can enjoy the BBQ Chicken, Car Show, Ice Cream Social, and the winery will be open. Guests on the train will then depart at 1:00 to head back to New Freedom. This is our first excursion to our neighbors to the north and we are excited to be a part of their celebration.

For those attending the celebration in Seven Valleys, there will be short train rides to Hanover Junction at 11:00/11:45 and 12:30. The tickets for these rides can be purchased at the Valley Tavern or the Fire House in Seven Valleys. Adult tickets will be $10.00 and children under 12 when accompanied by an adult will be free.  Join us!

This is a steam ride with no narration.

Sunday, August 13 at  2:30 pm

Enjoy a scenic ride through the beautiful countryside of York County to Hanover Junction, PA, on a historic railway that dates back to the late 1820s. Ride along with a 1957 PA GP 9 (converted to GP 10 in 1979) at the only place in the world where an original Pennsylvania railroad locomotive runs on a genuine Pennsylvania rail line. Enjoy the countryside and your visit to the Hanover Junction Museum on the stopover.

The First Capital Fife and Drum Corps from York Pennsylvania is happy to celebrate it's sixth year of existence providing traditional fife and drum music. Our repertoire includes patriotic favorites such as Yankee Doodle and Battle Hymn of the Republic, as well as popular folk tunes like Camptown Races and Oh Susanna. The First Capital Fife and Drum Corps has been honored to perform at events such as The 4th of July Fireworks Bash, The Harrisburg Senators and York Revolution games, The Pennsylvania Horse Show and many other community events. We hope our listeners will take a step back in time with us as we celebrate our nation's history. The First Capital Fife and Drum Corps is proudly under the direction of Zane Ruth and Nicole Seiberling.

First Capital Fife and Drum will ride the train and perform on the grounds at Hanover Junction. This is their third year performing for Steam in History and are always a welcome addition. They are high energy, entertaining and always well received musicians from ages 14 to 20. Enjoy their showmanship as you take a break at Hanover Junction.

This is a diesel ride.

All rides wind through the beautiful countryside of Southern York County on a historic railway that dates back to the late 1820s.
