2016 LBC Customer Appreciation Shoot

Our 12th annual Customer Appreciation Shoot was held on Friday, September 23rd, 2016 at the Millvale Sportsmen's Club. All of the proceeds from the raffle ticket sales, silent auction, and 50/50 this year benefited the Passavant Hospital Foundation.

We were blessed once again with beautiful weather and a great turnout. Our Oktoberfest buffet lunch was provided by Waterfall Catering from the Carpenters Training Center and included a Bavarian bratwurst bar, wiernerschnitzel, potato pancakes, and warm pretzel basket with dipping mustard.

Every year we include a friendly competition for those who wish to participate. This year our winners were: First Place: Scott Hazlett of DRS Architects; Second Place: Bill Paul of Deckman Company; and Third Place: Fritz Baehr of F.J. Baehr Architects.

Point Park University
Center for Media Innovation

Landau Building Company completed the Point Park University's Center for Media Innovation located in downtown Pittsburgh earlier this year.  The new high-tech multimedia studio is for students to explore television, radio, photography, and broadcasting in one space. It was designed by GBBN Architects as a professional studio while retaining the key elements of an educational space. It includes a radio broadcast room, television studio with green screen, photography studio, classroom, whisper room, control room, dressing room, community study areas, and offices.

The original building facade was replaced with an eleven-foot-high tilted storefront glass, complete with a LED stock ticker stretching around the building. Accommodating the sheer amount of technology in the 4,000 SF space was a challenge that Landau Building Company confidently accomplished. Three miles of data cable were run underneath a raised floor system. Highly sensitive acoustical tolerances were specified in every room, wall, and floor to eliminate the vibrations and background noise of the urban environment and adjacent tenant space within the building.
