Backpack Program Resumes
As the school year resumes, so does the Presbyterian Women's partnership with Coltrane Webb Elementary School. Each week during the school year, we provide backpacks filled with non-perishable food items to provide for children that otherwise would not have access to meals outside of school. We currently pack and deliver 10 bags that each contain enough food for a family of 4. In other words, we're feeding 40 people per week! This is an amazing program that could not succeed without your help.
If you'd like to help, you can place food donations in one of the red wagons located in Davis Hall, the Education Bldg., or the Fellowship House. Items needed are: boxes of spaghetti noodles, canned spaghetti sauce, Vienna sausage, granola bars, cans of beef stew, vegetable soup, tuna fish, Spaghetti O's, boxed saltine crackers, boxed cornbread mix, peanut butter (plastic jars), jelly (plastic jars), individual fruit snacks, individual pudding cups, boxed cookies, and large cans of fruit cocktail. Monetary donations are always welcome as well.
The Backpack Program is in need of a few more volunteers. It's always helpful to have extra hands. We're in need of shoppers, deliverers, as well as packers. A meeting to welcome new volunteers will be held on Tuesday, August 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. in the pantry located on the ground level of the Education Building. If you'd like more information, contact Amy Murphy at 704-786-6385.
We thank you for your generosity and hope that we can count on your continued support!
It's a New Year of PW!
Presbyterian Women
Service     Fellowship     Study
The activities of PW are directed toward building rel ationships and strengthening a sense of belonging to a community.
Service.   Through circles, various service projects throughout the year help us to develop or enhance relationships with other organizations and people in our church and in our local community. There are also opportunities to improve the lives of others both nationally and globally. To learn more, become a member of one of the circles or attend some of the PW luncheons and dinners.
Fellowship.  There are several events held throughout the year that enable us to get to know each other better.  Our first PW meal for this season is the "Kick-Off" dinner at 6:30 p.m on Wednesday, August 30th in Davis Hall.  Call the church office to make your reservation soon!
Study. This year's lessons are about community, and are more interactive than in recent years. (I personally think the theology is less complicated as well).  Come see for yourself as we learn together about being in community with each other and with God Himself.
We look forward to seeing you as part of the community of Presbyterian Women this year.

Church Volleyball
Cabarrus County Parks and Rec really wants to start a new outdoor volleyball league, and our church has been invited to participate. If you would be interested in being part of a church team, please email Peter Bynum at the church. Peter plays with this group regularly, and the games are relaxed and fun. To learn more, check out this video posted by the county.

ROCK-A-BYE BABY
Sometimes all a parent needs to calm a fussy child is a good rocking chair.  In an effort to welcome God's children of all ages into worship, the Session has approved the addition of a rocking chair at the back of the Sanctuary for parents with babies and small children.  All are welcome to try it out!
