Rick's Speakeasy raises $7,000 for Oncology Fund

We were presented with a $7,000 check for our Oncology Patient Special Needs Fund from the Rick's Speakeasy fundraiser that was held in memory of former Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees Member, Rick Amos, who recently lost his battle with cancer. The fundraiser was organized by Center Stage Theatre, Biloxi Little Theatre, Gulfport Little Theatre and his friends and family. The Oncology Patient Special Needs Fund provides financial support for patients who are receiving treatment for cancer at Memorial Hospital.

Stair Evacuation Chairs

Through a grant from the Walmart Foundation, we have installed 18 stair evacuation chairs throughout the hospital. The chairs will allow employees to safely evacuate immobile patients in case of an emergency. Patient transport in stairways has a high reported back injury rate, these chairs will significantly improve safety and prevent injury for both the employee and the patient. This is another step to continue to provide the best care possible to Memorial Hospital patients.

Shuckers game raises $16,000 for Breast Cancer

The Biloxi Shuckers partnered with us for a breast cancer awareness game benefiting the Favre4Hope fund on Friday, June 2nd. The Favre4Hope fund provides co-pay and other financial assistance to patients undergoing treatment for breast cancer at Memorial. The Shuckers recognized breast cancer survivors Angie Johnson, Jennifer Glenn and Debbie Clark, who were treated at Memorial. Angie threw out the first pitch and Memorial employee, Kyle Crosby, and his daughter sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. A jersey auction was held during the game which raised almost $5,800! The Favre4Hope Foundation matched the money raised for a grand total of $16,000 for breast cancer patients.
