Like cracking through the surface, of say, an egg, new challenges and awareness await.  For all of us, the hope of surviving Tax Season promises a kind of new birth. Our CPA friends and folks in the financial sector can do with a big exhale right now.

On the day after, we all begin to turn our attention to amazing reasons we stay in the game: opportunities to serve, chances to make our community stronger, actions to build relationship and deepen the character that is emerging on the East Side... sometimes to turn tragedy into a commitment for change - as in the NAACP Community MeetingĂ‚ this Thursday with Police and the Mayor.

Here are some other high points in that emergence - a great word for this time of year. And have you noticed? We've got a new feature to the left celebrating the strengths of an ESABA member every week.

At the end of April, Community of Peace Academy will be building a brand new playground with the support of KaBOOM! and Target! Located at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Arkwright Street and open to the public outside of the school day, this fills a serious need in our community for safe, fun places for kids.

Join us to make this happen:
We need breakfast and lunch for our volunteers, gift cards, door prizes, gift baskets, etc.(See details below).  AND we need to gather volunteers who are willing to help us build this amazing community resource. You, your business, your friends... get involved, we would love to have you on our team!

A Speakeasy in the Last Place You'd Look
This year's theme is the roaring 20s on the East Side. We are bringing you a cocktail party with plenty of Italian eats and an array of desserts, entertainment, fundraising, and classic cocktails. Think of it as a trip back in time to a speakeasy in a place you'd least expect to find one. Mueller Memorial teams up with TST Catering to host our Annual shebang. You won't want to miss it. Tickets on sale now at the early bird rate -  ESABA East Side Spring Revival.

Rushline Moving Ahead - Everyone on the Bus!

Get prepared to Speak UP

Here are three aspects of the Rushline Draft routing that we think are worthy of comment:
  • Not on E 7th... but improvements on E. 7th are cited - so that's something.
  • The Arcade and Phalen stop becomes critical to get this right: if we don't the bus goes through the East Side but not really to the East Side. Bring the stop up to grade at Arcade.
  • It co-locates with the Bruce Vento Trail for much of the route which will change that asset. What do you think needs to be done to make sure that all works?
Open House + Public Hearing
We want to know what you think about the draft alternative, which is why a public hearing will be held on April 27 from 5-8 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. The church is located at 1390 Larpenteur Avenue in St Paul. If you cannot attend the public hearing, please send your comments via email to info@rushline.org or by US mail to:
