Lucy Lost in Magic Town

The young girl filled with happiness and laughter as she chased the red balloon around the backyard. She chased it with nothing better to do but she found joy in it. The balloon went over the fence and the young girl, Lucy, went through the gate and followed it. She chased it, determined to catch the balloon. She followed it across Maple Street, crossed the road to get to Penny Street and then followed it through a tunnel. It was a long tunnel but it finally ended. She exited the tunnel and a man outside of a small shop caught her balloon for her.

"Hey mister, can I get my balloon back please?" Said Lucy.

"Why of course dear. My name is George. What are you doing way out here by yourself?" The man asked.

"Well, I chased my balloon and somehow I ended up here. I'm Lucy by the way. Where am I?" Lucy said.

"You're in Magic Town of course." George said excitedly.

Lucy visited a mini sculpture town called Magic Town about a year ago, but there's no way she could end up in a sculpture town.

"Magic Town?" Lucy asked very confused.

"Yes!" George said happily. "And welcome to it!"

Lucy could not understand how she ended up in Magic Town. She gazed at the town and confusion turned into awe. The town, full of beautiful and lively people, put a sparkle in her eye. Everyone in the town appeared joyful and greeted each other as they crossed paths. As she gazed down the streets she saw shops filled with doughnuts, shops with candy and so much more. George noticed her awe towards Magic Town.
He smiled and said "Would you like to take a tour?"

"Oh yes I would like to take a tour!" Lucy said with excitement  As they walked, Lucy fell in love with the city. The people, the buildings, the sights, the smells, everything appeared just perfect.   Then Lucy asked with curiosity, "Will the town always appear this perfect?"

"Sadly it will not" Said George. His grin turned into a frown after saying this. He looked at Lucy sadly.

"I don't understand. What will happen to Magic Town?" Lucy asked with her smile also fading.

"Well as you know, Magic Town is a town made of sculptures, at least to the people on the outside." George stated.   Lucy nodded.

"You see, the people on the outside do not come to see the exhibit as often as they used to. And that means not as much money for the owner. So Edwin, the person who rented the building to the owner of Magic Town, is shutting the exhibit down." George said sadly.

Lucy was in shock.   "How could they do this? What will happen to you guys? How do we stop them?" She said hysterically.
"Calm down, Calm down, we know of  a way for you to leave. You will leave this town before it gets destroyed." George said trying to calm her.

"But what about all of you? What will happen to you when they destroy Magic Town?" Lucy asked.

George sighed and replied, "Unfortunately, none of us can leave Magic Town because we are simply just sculptures."

Lucy thought and thought of a way to save them before Magic Town was destroyed but she couldn't think of anything. George told her that they would be destroying the town in 2 days and that she could get out by going through the tunnel she came here through.

George took her to a hotel so she could get some sleep before returning to the real world.   As soon as George left, she got to work. She had been trying to figure out how to get them out, but then it hit her. She had to stop Magic Town from being destroyed altogether. She must go back to the real world as soon a possible so she could stop Edwin.

In the morning, she hurried to go say farewell to George. She told him her plan and he thought it was a good one. She then said goodbye and took off.

When she got back to the real world, she realized no time passed from when she accidentally took the tunnel to Magic Town the first time. She hurried and went to the building that the Magic Town exhibit occupied. She walked in to find a man on his phone.

The man said "Can I help you?"

"Yes. Do you know where I can find a man named Edwin?" Lucy replied.

"You're looking at him." the man said.

Lucy looked at him for a second and then said, "You can't take down Magic Town. People love this exhibit."

Edwin looked annoyed and then said, "Look kid, unless more people start coming here and buying tickets, then it's coming down."

Edwin rolled his eyes and went back on his phone. Lucy left and went on with the next step of her plan. She took something out of her bag that George gave her to help with her plan. They were fliers, each one with a picture of a person that lived in Magic Town and what they did there. The top of the fliers read,"Come to Magic Town to see all of the amazing handcrafted sculptures tonight at 6:00pm! Let's raise enough money to save this town of sculptures so people can continue to enjoy!"

Lucy hung these flyers all over the place for everyone to see. Each time she hung up a flier, people would gather around it and read what it said. At 6:00 Lucy went back to the Magic Town exhibit  hoping that there would be lots of people there to see Magic Town. She looked and there was an extremely long line of people excited to get in. Lucy cheered and was happier than ever. She got in after waiting in line and saw Edwin getting money and giving out tickets.

Edwin saw her and said "I don't know how you did it kid, but you saved this little town that means so much to you."

Lucy looked down at the exhibit and saw George as a little sculpture.   She smiled and said quietly "We did it George, we did it."
