Today is the Feast of St Nicholas

A lmighty God, in your love you gave your servant Nicholas of Myra a perpetual name for deeds of kindness both on land and sea: Grant, we pray, that your Church may never cease to work for the happiness of children, the safety of sailors, the relief of the poor, and the help of those tossed by tempests of doubt or grief; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

For a good resource on St Nicholas, you might enjoy the St Nicholas Center. They even have an entry about our celebrations at St Timothy's.

Stewardship Update
Thank you to everyone who has turned in a pledge card. We are so very pleased at the response thus far. With God's help, we are off to a record start. There are still many who have pledged in the past who have not yet turned in a pledge for 2017. Pledge cards are in the pews or for your convenience, you can fill in an online card here:  http://www.sttimothysws.org/2017-pledge

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Shelter News - Come and See!
Our Women's Overflow Shelter opened this past  Thursday  at St.Tim's.  Each night at  7pm , a team of volunteers descends upon Drake Hall and transforms it into the biggest, warmest bedroom in town.  Guests are welcomed in, just as they are, and share a warm meal with volunteers before turning in for the night. Volunteers also come, just as they are, stepping out of the busy-ness of Advent and into roles of holy hospitality.

Our guest list started small, but has grown each night.  Tonight there are 6 guests who are resting well thanks to the hospitality of St.Tim's.  A huge thanks goes out to all who have stepped up to volunteer, those who have donated supplies, and those who have committed to pray for us all, volunteers, guests, and church.  God is transforming lives in Drake Hall each night--come and see!

The Angel Tree
Advent is here!  As you make your own Christmas shopping lists, consider including wishes from our Angel Tree to make the holidays merry for others too.  The Angel Tree will be in the downstairs hallway of the church.  The first tags that are on the tree will be in support of our Overflow Shelter and New Communion Mobile Food Pantry (we are still collecting pasta too!).  The second group of tags will show up after Las Posadas ( Dec.12 ) with the wishes from the kids of Anthony's Plot.  All gifts can be returned under the tree with tags on them--the shelter gifts do not need to be wrapped, but please wrap the children's gifts.  Thank you!

Las Posadas
is next  Monday, Dec.12 at 5:30pm  at Anthony's Plot (2323 Sunnyside Ave).  Join us in this Latin American tradition for a night of caroling and community, as we go door-to-door in the Sunnyside neighborhood in search of shelter for the Holy Family.  All ages are welcome to join in--dress warmly, be ready to walk, and bring a flashlight.  Parents should come with children or send them with a designated adult (just so we can keep up with everyone!). After shelter is found for Mary & Joseph, we will celebrate with a large feast complete with a visit from the Magi.  This will be the fourth year that St.Tim's has joined our friends at Anthony's Plot for this meaningful part of our Advent season.

Club 543 going to Arbor Acres this Sunday!
Our 3rd-5th graders are going to help with the vespers service at Arbor Acres  on Sunday  afternoon.  If you know of a resident of Arbor Acres that would enjoy a visit from our kids--please let Katie Bryant know ( [email protected] ).
