New Front Office Staff
Please join us in welcoming our two new assistant principals, Julie Hirsh and Jeff Roberts. Julie comes to us from Plano ISD where she has served as an assistant principal for the past 13 years at Jasper High School and Plano West Senior High. Jeff has taught and coached here at LHS for the past three years and will be moving into an assistant principal role while still continuing as our Head Softball Coach.
Assistant principal alpha splits and roles with students have changed this year and are the following:
Bruce Coachman - Assistant Principal for Academic Support of students whose last name begins with the letters A-K
Julie Hirsh - Assistant Principal for Academic Support of students whose last name begins with the letters L-Z
Jeff Roberts - Assistant Principal for Behavioral Support of all students
Teresa Dodson - Associate Principal over Curriculum and Instruction
We're also pleased to welcome Natalie Buster in her new role as the Administrative Assistant to the Principals and Tori Fritzler as our new School Resource Officer.
Student Schedules
Students will be able to access their schedules in PowerSchool on Monday, August 14th. This will also be the time for parents to update their information and complete their waivers and authorizations.
Schedule Changes
If students want to request an elective schedule change, they will be able to make a request through a Google Form on the following dates.
- Seniors - August 22
- Juniors - August 23
- Sophomores - August 24
- Freshman - August 25
Schedule change requests will not be accepted before school begins or by email.
If students want to request a change, they will have to fill out the Google Form.
The link to the Google Form will be available on the LHS Website and in your student's grade level Google Classroom (ex: Class of 2018). Changes will only be made if space is available.
Founder's Day
Freshmen (as well as any students new to Lovejoy) are encouraged to attend our Founder's Day on Thursday, August 17th from 8:45 am - Noon. We'll start the day in the Auditorium so feel free to enter through the Auditorium Lobby. Join us as we introduce you to the LHS campus, faculty and staff. This will be a great morning of fun that will include time with your friends, games, a school tour and important information that you need to know for your freshmen year!
**School appropriate attire is required and closed toe shoes are suggested for our activities.
New/9th Grade Parent Meeting
We welcome all freshmen parents as well as those new to LISD or new to the high school to join us on Wednesday, August 17th at 6:30 pm in the LHS Auditorium.
School Supplies
Compiling a list of common items needed for Lovejoy High School is a bit difficult considering the diversity of classes that a typical student can take. Knowing that many of you may want to shop for school supplies before you receive the complete list from teachers on the 1st day of school, we invite you to click SUPPLIES to consult a spreadsheet that details what items are needed for each department. Please note that there are 5 tabs, one for each of the core subjects: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and LOTE.
Parking Permits
2017-18
The schedule for purchasing a parking permit for the 2017-18 School Year is as follows:
Wednesday, August 9th - Seniors only
Thursday, August 10th - Juniors only
Friday, August 11th - Sophomores and Freshmen
The purchase window will open at 9:00 am each day.
Walk-up sales for purchases by cash or credit card will also begin at 9:00 am at the LHS School Store.
NOTE
: Complete the purchase process FIRST, then fill out the online parking application. This will ensure that you have your parking permit # for the form.

Verification of Enrollment (VOE)
If your student needs a VOE for drivers' ed courses or renewing their license, please come to the front office from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and we'll be happy to provide one.
Driver's Ed Classes

Lovejoy had two students qualify to compete at the Health Occupation Students of America
40th International Leadership Conference (HOSA ILC). Lauren Payne and Taylor Carty worked hard to prepare for several levels of written and skills tests throughout the year. Even after graduation, they met up to practice skills and continued to work through the text books for the written tests. Their hard work and dedication paid off with both girls getting called up to the stage for recognition as top ten finalist.
Lauren Payne earned 5th place in Sports Medicine (also 2016 HOSA ILC Sports Medicine 5th place finish)
Taylor Carty earned 2nd place in Clinical Nursing
Lauren will be attending Rice University and Taylor will be attending Pepperdine University this fall. Both are planning on going on to medical school once they graduate.
