A Message from the Assistant Headmaster
Dear Parents and Friends:
By now you should have received your second summer mailing. You can
access all of that content online here, including the forms that we ask you to return at the start of the school year. If you missed the first summer mailing, you can also
find that content online here.
I invite you to attend our upcoming back to school events this month as we prepare for the start of the school year:
- Wed., 8/16: Welcome Fiesta - a social event for parents only from 4:30-7:30 PM in the UAC Commons. Good food, lots of fun, and back to school business.
- Thur., 8/24: K-12 Student Orientation - an open house style event for all students and parents to find classrooms, meet the teachers, and more, plus a required orientation for ALL 7th graders from 3:00-5:00 PM and NEW 9th graders from 4:00-6:00 PM. Back to school business items will also be available at this time.
- Mon., 8/28: First Day of School! The school day begins at 7:55 AM. K-6 students will report to classrooms and all 7-12 grade students will report to first period classes, followed by an opening convocation in the Auditorium. Kindergarten dismisses at 11:30 AM on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the first week of school, with no lunch being served. Dismissal for remaining students is 2:45 PM.
Parents are invited to join us for coffee and donuts to ring in the new school year immediately following drop-off on August 28.

Successful Freshman Picnic Welcoming the Class of 2021
On Wednesday, August 2, we had a great turnout to welcome the Class of 2021 to the Saint Agnes family! Incoming freshmen and their parents were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and get to know one another over hamburgers on the grill at Central Park in Roseville.

Fall Sports: Registration Night is Tomorrow, 8/8
Preseason Team Meetings & Registration Night is Tues., 8/8
Parents of students participating on high school sport teams must attend team meetings on Tuesday, August 8, in the Ubel Activity Center at 6:30 PM. This will be a great time to begin or complete your fall sports registration, fill out any mandatory forms and meet with the coaching staffs. The meeting should last about an hour.
High School Practices Begin 8/14
High school practices begin on Monday, August 14. Visit the
Saint Agnes Registration page before the first day of practices. Preseason practice schedules are listed on each team's page under "Program Links" at
www.aggieathletics.org.
Register for Grade School & Junior High Sports by 8/23
Grade School and Junior High parents are welcome to attend on August 8 to register for fall sports. Mr. Streitz will have forms available in the UAC Commons. Grade School and Junior High practices begin August 28. Please register early as the number of teams we will offer will be decided by August 23.

Volunteer Opportunities: 8/15 & 8/16
Listed below are upcoming opportunities for parents (and students) to help us get ready for the new school year. Please consider signing up to lend a hand:
Parent Fiesta Prep (Tuesday, 8/15)
Bring your favorite knife, cutting board and apron. Learn new salsa recipes! Older students who can handle a knife are welcome to assist their parents.

Grill quesadillas, manage the salsa bar or help at the info tables. Since this is a parents-only event, we are only able to accept assistance from parents.

Attn: Seniors & Parents - Free College App Orientation 8/10
We will host a College Application Orientation for
ALL incoming seniors
and their parents on Thursday, August 10. This free seminar will cover the college application process to ensure that your senior is prepared to complete applications this summer and fall.
We strongly encourage all incoming seniors and their parents to attend.This is available to all seniors, not only those registered for Boot Camp. Questions? Contact

High School Choir Camp: Thurs., 8/10
Registered members of the Concert Chorale must attend, but anyone interested in learning more about choir is encouraged to participate! Camp is Thursday, August 10, from 1:00 - 6:00 PM. Auditions for Madrigal Singers may be scheduled by appointment. Download the flyer.

Parent Fiesta Night is Wed., 8/16
The Parent Fiesta is Wednesday, August 16, from 4:30 to 7:30 PM in the UAC Commons. Please plan to attend this
parents-only event to complete back to school business, meet and reconnect with other parents, and sample a variety of fresh salsas and guacamole!
Volunteers are needed on 8/15 to prepare salsas and on 8/16 at the event.

VIRTUS Training Session at Saint Agnes: 8/23
Saint Agnes will host a VIRTUS training session on Wednesday, August 23, at 6:00 PM in Schuler Hall (lower level of church). Any school volunteers who have regular or unsupervised interaction with minors must have attended one of these sessions.

Registration Now Open for Complimentary Latin I Class
Registration is now open for a Latin I class to be offered this fall at the Church of Saint Agnes. The class will meet from 7:00 to 8:15 PM on Thursday evenings in the Bride's Room (lower level of church) beginning on Thursday, September 7. Fr. Moriarty and Deacon Nathan Allen will co-teach the 11-week class using
A Primer of Ecclesiastical Latin
by John F. Collins (ISBN-13: 978-0813206677). There is no fee, but each student is responsible for purchasing a copy of the book. If you are interested, please call the parish office to register at (651) 925-8800.
