Vale Pat O'Brien

The strength of local government is proportionate to the involvement of its residents. Few people illustrated this dynamic better than Patricia (Pat) Ann O'Brien, who passed away recently at the age of 73.

Pat is well known in our community thanks to her work with the many historical groups in the area. She was an active member of the Holroyd Family History Group, 'Save Linnwood Hall Action Group' (now 'Friends of Linnwood') and formed the Holroyd Local History Research with friend Dorothy Warwick.

She is perhaps best known for her restoration work at Mays Hill Cemetery. In the 1990's she discovered her grandparents were buried there and worked closely with the former Holroyd City Council and local residents to restore the heritage site. Both Council and the community benefited from her tireless service.

On behalf of all the Council staff who had the pleasure to know and work with Pat O'Brien, I would like to extend my condolences to her friends and family.
