ACE Teaching Fellows join Diocese of Stockton
Picture left to right: Alex McKee, Andrew Martin, Mary Driewer, & Emma Fleming

Bishop Stephen Blaire is pleased to announce the launch of the latest program for the Diocese of Stockton in partnership with the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) at the University of Notre Dame.  In August, four ACE Teaching Fellows will begin their professional careers at local Catholic schools.  The Teaching Fellows spent this summer on Notre Dame's campus in South Bend training for their new classroom responsibilities and will receive ongoing education and support from the ACE faculty during the school years ahead.  Drew Martin will teach history at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton. Emma Fleming will teach fourth grade at Our Lady of Fatima School in Modesto, and Mary Driewer will teach fourth grade at St. Stanislaus School, also in Modesto.  Alex McKee will be the third-grade teacher at St. Bernard School in Tracy.

The Alliance for Catholic Education was founded in 1993 by Rev. Timothy R. Scully, C.S.C, and Rev. Sean McGraw, C.S.C., to address the need for talented, faith-filled teachers in Catholic schools. By forming a new generation of energetic and committed Catholic school teachers, ACE works to sustain, strengthen, and transform Catholic schools.  The Stockton Diocese is the newest participant in the Teaching Fellowship program.

Since its start, ACE has grown to include a dozen initiatives that seek to form the next generation of teachers and leaders, to establish networks to extend the Catholic school advantage to thousands of new families, and to strengthen Catholic schools and give disadvantaged children the opportunities they need and deserve.
