Zadie's Broken Arm Revealed Things Weren't Okay at Home

Zadie told the emergency room doctor her broken arm was her fault but X-rays revealed the fracture was caused by someone twisting her arm so violently the bone snapped.  Once Child Protective Services was called though, everyone realized much more was wrong than a broken arm. Zadie's parents had been neglectful and abusive because they were using illegal drugs. Zadie and her two brothers needed help.

Dallas CASA volunteer Jessica stuck with the siblings through multiple placements over the next three years in foster care. Check out our blog to find out how Zadie is today.
Veteran Volunteer Suzan Dick Finds Inspiration in the Children

For Dallas CASA volunteer Suzan Dick, it's the words of one of the children she served that keep her going. Every time she visited five-year-old Samuel in foster care he would say "How did you find me?"

"That sticks with me today," Suzan says. "It breaks my heart that a child could feel so lost in the system that he didn't think adults would be able to find him."

Visit Dallas CASA's blog to learn about where Samuel and Suzan are today.
