The beginning of Spring has brought with it many new exhibitions.
Recent Acquisitions, open now, focuses on pieces that are newer to the Museum's permanent collection. Changing Views: Queering U.S. Landscapes opens April 11, and challenges visitors to reexamine the way they view traditional landscapes and the social constructs buried within. Opening on April 17 is The Art Lab Presents, which offers guests a chance to dive deeper into the history and process of art through some of the Museum's best-loved works. Also opening April 17 is the 2015 Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition. Featuring the work of third-year students in the MFA program, this exhibition is a great way to catch a glimpse of the future of art. Learn more about exhibitions.
Rothko Research
The UAMA has recently begun collaborating with the College of Optical Sciences on a research and design project focused around a lighting source for
Mark Rothko's Green on Blue (Earth-Green and White). Work began by surveying the public on preferred color temperatures on the painting using wifi enabled lightbulbs. The data collected will help students in the College of Optical Sciences to design a new lighting for the Rothko. Read more about the project in this article by the Arizona Daily Wildcat.
