UPCOMING DEADLINES
Thursday, December 15 is our biggest deadline day of the 2017 Awards. This can slow down large file uploads, and our busiest hours for submissions is between 11am and 2pm. Patience is key during these times.

Helpful tips to share with students, educators, and parents:
  • Firefox and Chrome are the best browser options, and a browser or computer restart  can also help
  • Clearing a users browser cache can aide in login issues and upload errors
  • Film & Animation uploads can be the slowest during deadline peaks. There is a 350 MB max file size for video uploads and MP4 files are recommended, though .mov, .wmv, .avi, .mpg, and .mpeg files are also accepted
  • The ORS will close for submissions at 11:59 pm EDT the date of your deadline
If you receive questions from students or educators that you are unable to answer, you can reach out to me directly and I will provide you with a response for the student/educator. Please do not forward student/educator calls or emails to me directly.

You can also refer students or educators to email info@artandwriting.org or call 212-343-7700 during National Office business hours (M-F, 9:30-5:30 EDT). This can be especially helpful for students submitting to Region-at-Large.

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Below are common deadline-related customer service questions. If you are receiving recurring questions or issues please let me know and we can address or improve the location of important information for students and educators.

Is the deadline an upload or a postmark deadline?
All work must be uploaded by 11:59pm EDT on the date of your deadline. Affiliates should communicate postmark and delivery deadlines for forms and fees on their webpages and in submission form instructions.

Can I edit my work following the deadline?
No changes can be made to work following your regional deadlines. You will also not be able to edit work once your Affiliate has received and checked in your Submission Form and fees. 

Category Questions
We are happy to offer guidance about category questions, but part of the submission process is determining which category best suites your work based on the descriptions. While we understand the listed categories are not a full view of the types of work creative teens create, these are the categories in which work will be judged and awarded for the 2017 Scholastic Awards.

Do I have to include an artist or writer statement with my portfolio?
It is not mandatory. The artist or writer statement for portfolio submissions is optional, but highly encouraged. If you are submitting two portfolios, you can include both statements in the same text box by including the portfolio title above each statement.

REGIONAL ADJUDICATION
In order to better support you during your adjudication dates, log into your Affiliate account and add your adjudication date(s) in the Regional Settings -> Dates & Deadlines section.

All Gold Key works must be finalized in the ORS by January 25, 2017. 
CEREMONIES AND CELEBRATIONS
The Key to a Great Ceremony and Celebration takes you through planning, run of show, student procession, talking points, and other helpful best practices for your regional ceremonies and celebrations.

As you create your programs and publications for your upcoming celebrations, please take care to update any logos and language based on the Affiliate Partner Style Guide.

We will host a Style Guide Affiliate Partner Training on January 12, 2017 at 4:00pm EDT with our special host, Associate Manager of Communications, Jean Bass.
