AS GOMER PYLE SAID, "THANK YOU..THANK YOU..THANK YOU"

It is difficult to put into words the love and joy Gay and I felt Sunday! The food-the fellowship-the service all came together to make this an absolutely beautiful day. We thank all who helped put it together and for the generous "purse" we were given. We treasure and love the time we have shared together--and look forward to joining you in the pew.

SUNDAY | JULY 30
Closing Service of the Mississippi Music and and Liturgy Conference 10:00 a.m.
We are delighted once again to host the closing service of the Mississippi Conference on Church Music and Liturgy, an event that draws church musicians from across the United States.  Conference participants will form the choir at our 10:00 am service, offering a special prelude and anthems at the offertory and during communion.  The Rt. Rev. Bishop Seage will be present to celebrate, and the Rev. Charles Dupree, Rector at Christ Church in Bloomington, IN, who is serving as the conference chaplain, will preach.  Our very own Jessica Nelson is the conference coordinator.

The conference concludes with lunch served in the Parish Hall.  The congregation is welcome to eat lunch as well.  The menu is Chicken Marsala, mashed potatoes, salad, bread, dessert.  The cost is $10/per person.
"Buy-In Blitz" | 2:00 p.m. @ Cash and Carry on Terry Rd.
Have you ever heard of "food deserts"?  They are neighborhoods without grocery stores where residents can purchase fresh, healthy foods at reasonable prices. A south Jackson neighborhood was destined to become a food desert until Working Together Jackson, of which St. Andrew's is a member institution, stepped up when the local Kroger store on Terry Road closed down about two years ago. WTJ leaders came together to ensure that Kroger did not prohibit, through use of a deed restriction, another grocery store from replacing it. Another WTJ member institution, Hope Enterprise Corporation, financed the development of the new Jackson Cash & Carry store owned by local resident Greg Price.  TODAY, WTJ has organized a "Buy-In Blitz" at the new Jackson Cash and Carry, 3520 Terry Road, at 2:00 PM, and we're all invited to come and do some grocery shopping and enjoy a special program! See you there - and bring a neighbor!
Community Evensong
will be held Sunday evening, July 30, at 5:30 pm in the chancel.  This ecumenical service of simple chant, scripture, prayer and meditation, fashioned after the traditional service of evening prayer, allows us to pause before the start of yet another busy week, to connect with God and neighbor, and to share both in silence and sound our hopes for the week ahead. This lay-led service depends on communal leadership, so please email Sarah Stripp at  [email protected] if you would like to be part of planning and leading Community Evensong.
SUNDAY | AUGUST 6
Feast of the Transfiguration | 7:30 a.m. & 10:00 a.m.
Food Pantry Sunday: Please fill a grocery bag with items, such as flour, sugar, corn meal, canned meats and fruits, vegetables, grits, macaroni and cheese, oatmeal, peanut butter, ramen noodles, spaghetti sauce, soups, hamburger helper, crackers, cereal, tuna and rice.  Please place your bags in the back of the Chapel. Thank you for your generosity.
