Before we started the Community event eleven years ago, Halloween was not a big deal to me. I would get two trick-or-treaters at my house each year. I never dressed up. While I still don't dress up that much, thanks to Jodie and the Seabeck Staff, I think Halloween night is my favorite night of the year. I handed out 510 flashing bracelets to kids. Gary and his crew served 600 bowls of chili. A neighbor counted 250 cars parked on Seabeck highway at one point. I think we had 1,000 people here in two short hours. It is incredibility fun time!

The two large Maple trees in front of the Inn have reached the end of their run. They will be removed later this month. Our arborist tried everything they could to save the trees, but the steps didn't work. I figure the trees are about 160 years old and an average big leaf maples lifespan is about 125 years. It's sad to see them go, but it will allow us to repair the trip hazards in our front patio. Two new Armstrong Maples will be planted in their place. They will be similar to the current size to the ones planted 7 years ago when the first to old trees were removed.

The Firs bathroom remodel has started. When completed it will feature two gender neutral shower rooms and separate gender neutral restrooms. Work will be completed in time for Winter Eliot.

Keep an eye out for our end of the year mailing. It should arrive in your mailbox in about two weeks or so. The Pines Campaign is the focus. I think a gift in honor of someone is a great holiday gift. Why not give your family the gift of their name on a brick at Pines? We will be offering a limited edition Seabeck Ugly Sweater Ornament to wrap and put under the tree. This a vital time for the campaign. We need to show higher levels of support for Foundations to feel comfortable to join us.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Chuck

Narrows Connection Quiltmakers
Coming to Seabeck Since 1990

Our Purpose
Narrows Connection Quiltmaker's is a nonprofit association dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the art of quilt making.  It is organized exclusively for fellowship, education, and support of our chosen charitable community service projects.

Narrows Connection Quiltmakers was formally organized in 1982 to share the love of quilt making. We have been coming to Seabeck Conference Center for our annual quilt retreat since 1990. We meet monthly, September through June, to share accomplishments and techniques. We have demonstrations, lecture, and challenge ourselves each year with the creation of a group quilt.

Our community service projects include making lap quilts for individuals coping with cancer, holding silent auctions with the proceeds going to two local food banks, making colorful cloth bags and donating clothing and supplies to go in them for the Children's Advocacy Center at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.
