Grills & Fire Pits

Backyard barbecues and roasting marshmallows around a fire are quintessential summer activities, but they also require observation and upkeep. Your neighborhood covenants allow for outdoor grills, barbecue smokers and other kitchen equipment – just be sure to follow safe practices to avoid accidents. The National Fire Protection Association offers some key outdoor grilling safety tips.

A fire pit makes for a great backyard gathering space, but city codes vary on whether you are allowed to build your own. Before you install a fire pit, contact your city government and ask for their rules and regulations regarding outdoor fireplaces. Please let Hubbell Community Management know if you plan to build a fire pit on your property so we are aware and can pass along maintenance and safety information. You’re always welcome to bring us homemade s’mores!
What is "Green"?
With environmental factors becoming more prominent in our everyday lives, the words “green” and “sustainable” are being used interchangeably.

But things that are green are not necessarily sustainable. The easiest way to differentiate the two is by looking at them in terms of time. Something is green when it helps reduce the footprint it leaves on the natural environment. Green products help reduce the amount of immediate emissions.

Sustainable entities, on the other hand, are those that meet present needs without compromising the ability for future generations to meet their needs. Think of a smart or “green” car with its fuel efficiency. It is green simply because it reduces the amount of carbon it emits. But even if everyone had smart cars, it is still not sustainable to extract and burn fossil fuels at our current rate.

Green products are typically not sustainable as their own entity, but rather contribute to making our way of life sustainable.
