November's Bergen County 10K Market Report

The story has remained consistent as concerns residential real estate. In year-over-year comparisons, the number of homes for sale has been fewer in most communities. Meanwhile, homes are selling in fewer days and for higher prices. This hasn't always been the case, but it has occurred with enough regularity and for enough time to make it a trend for the entirety of 2016.



Obama Blocks Oil and Gas Drilling off New Jersey

In a parting gift to New Jersey's Shore-based tourism industry, the Obama administration announced Tuesday that it will indefinitely bar oil and gas drilling in 31 canyons beneath the Atlantic Ocean from the Chesapeake Bay up to New England, a move that could reduce a potential environmental and economic threat to New Jersey.

Existing-Home Sales Forge Ahead in November

A big surge in the Northeast and a smaller gain in the South pushed existing-home sales up in November for the third consecutive month, according to the National Association of Realtors®. Total existing-home sales , which are completed transactions that include single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and co-ops, rose 0.7 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.61 million in November.


Giving Millennial Homebuyers What They Need

With the housing market seeing significant recoveries in home prices, many millennials are making a move toward homeownership. In fact, according to the National Association of REALTORS®, "for the third straight year, the largest group of recent buyers were millennials." For many in this generation, this will be their first home-buying experience, and they'll be looking to their agents for help.

GSE Announce New Modification Program

On Dec. 14, 2016, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced the development and implementation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's new Flex Modification program which will replace the Enterprises' current Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP®) which expires at the end of the year.

New York still the Apple of Foreign Property Investors' Eyes 

New York City remained the top choice this year among foreign investors in commercial real estate while Washington fell to No. 15 as a global destination and dropped from the top five U.S. cities for the first time, a survey showed on Thursday. New York is in its seventh year as the prime U.S. city for foreign investors, and its third year as the top global city, members of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE) indicated in the survey.
