Thunder Bay plays host to dozens of fairs and festivals each year and this summer is jampacked with fun!

City Hall Sounds

Every Thursday, noon to 1 pm 


 
Back by popular demand, City Hall Sounds will run every Thursday in August at McGillivray Square, City Hall. Take time out of your busy day to relax and socialize with neighbours and coworkers, and take in the sounds of some excellent local musical talent. Local food trucks and arts activities will be on site as well as displays by community organizations. Don't miss this annual community event, sponsored by the Crime Prevention Council's Strong Neighbourhoods Working Group. See you there!

Rib Fest
August 25-27

Like paradise for meat-eaters, once again the OLG parking lot will become the home of Ribfest. Featuring entertainment, various vendors and food booths.
Now in it's 6th Anniversary, Ribfest 2017 hopes to have 25,000 - 30,000 people to taste the ribs, have some fun and to enjoy the entertainment.
 
Also explore the Red River Rumble Motorcycle and Car Show on Sunday, August 27th.

This along with a amazing array of talented performers each day is sure to make this year's Ribfest the best yet!

Fun on the Waterfront!
Live on the Waterfront -
Aug 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30
  
Since 1904, Live on the Waterfront (Summer in the Parks) has been an important part of the City's heritage. With the incomparable Marina Park on Lake Superior as the setting, concerts showcase performers presenting a variety of musical styles. In addition to great music, Live on the Waterfront evenings feature children's activities, free draws, a variety of on-site concessions and an artisans' market. 

Concerts are held on Wednesday nights throughout the summer from 6 to 9 pm. 

Movie Nights on the Waterfront -
Friday Aug 18, 25, & Sept 1 

Movie Nights in the Park returns for the Fall session on Friday nights in Late August, and September. Bring warm clothes, a blanket and/or chair - food vendors will be on site. Movies start after dark (approx. 9pm)

Live Music at Chippewa Park
Tuesday Night Jams  - Aug 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Offering a wide range of music, all musicians & singers welcome! Bring your instruments! Seating is limited to 100 so please come early and bring a lawn chair. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed. From 7-10 pm every Tuesday Evening.

Sundays in the Park - Aug 6, 13, 20, & 27
All ages, family fun at the Chippewa Pavilion Sunday afternoons from 2-4 pm. Bring your lawn chair.

It's summer and that means it's time for sports! Get out and support one of our hometown teams or cheer on the athletes at one of the many special sporting events happening in August!

WBSCU -18 Baseball World Cup
Sept 1-10  

XXVIII World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Baseball World Cup 2017 Thunder Bay will see fifty games played between Port Arthur Stadium and Baseball Central. Tournament dates are September 1st to September 10th.

The twelve nations that have secured their place in the pinnacle youth international competition include: United States, Cuba, Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Italy, Netherlands South Africa and Australia.
