Family at Pool
Just because summer is almost over, it doesn't mean the fun has to stop! August is National Family Fun month and we've lined up some great activities the whole family can enjoy. Whether you dive into water safety with your little mermaids and mermen, showcase your many talents or get into the game with our fall Adult Sports leagues, Chandler Parks & Recreation offers a variety of ways to make lasting memories as a family. This month, we challenge you to explore family time, then share your stories with us on Instagram by using #CR_Family. Here are a few of our favorite activities to get you started.

With the dog days of summer behind us it's time to plan your fall activities. Check-out the latest edition of Break Time to find daily inspiration, then mark your calendars Resident Registration opens Saturday, August 5 and Non-resident Registration the following week on Friday, August 11. Skip the line and add your favorite activities now to your Wishlist then when registration opens simply login and check-out.

Drowning Impact Awareness Month
August is Drowning Impact Awareness Month. Join Chandler Aquatics and SRP at Safe Summer Verano Sano as they make strides in drowning prevention. This free family-friendly event features public swim, games, CPR lessons, and life jacket demonstrations. Patrons can also enjoy music, refreshments and raffles. Splish splash over to Arrowhead Pool, Saturday, August 5, from noon to 5 p.m. for your chance to win free swimming lessons, movie passes and more.

Aqua Fit
Aquatics  
Hop into the pool with Chandler Aquatics' Aqua Fit programs to slim down in a splash. Tone and sculpt your body with no impact to your joints; all without breaking a sweat. This fun 50-minute water workout is a blend of cardio and resistance training, and may incorporate flotation belts, noodles and water weights. Choose from Deep Water and Shallow Water classes to reach new fitness levels. 
Play Dough

Break the mold and build colorful masterpieces with Play Dough Playtime! Budding artists can unbox their imaginations and explore their tactile senses. Using rolling pins, popsicle sticks and blocks to shape, mold and stamp play dough this parent-tot class has all you knead for a great day.   
Youth Talent Show

We're looking for youth to help us rock the City. Actors, bands, dancers, comedians and musicians showcase your talents for a chance to win cash prizes at Chandler's annual Youth Talent Competition. Hurry, deadline to register your act is Friday, August 4. Not interested in performing, no problem. Join us Friday, August 18 for an entertaining evening at the Chandler Center for the Arts to cheer on Chandler's most talented youth. Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is $5 per person.

Climb (or ride the chair lift) to new heights on the San Francisco Peaks Excursion. Take in the expansive beauty of northern Arizona from 11,500-feet elevation on Saturday, August 12. Spectacular views include:  the red rocks of Sedona, the cone volcanic field and the walls of the Grand Canyon. As you head up, up and away experienced Forest Service Interpretive Specialists will be on-hand to answer any of your biology and geology questions. Registration includes roundtrip transportation from the Environmental Education Center and Excursion fees.

Ever think back fondly on your glory days as a high school or college athlete? Those athletic pursuits don't have to stop at nostalgia-Chandler Parks & Recreation actually has many Adult Sports Leagues at varying degrees of competitiveness and time commitment. Feel like playing softball this fall? What about flag football, basketball or volleyball? Now's your chance to get back in the game, work out and meet new people. Team registrations are being accepted online through August 20. 
Cerreta Candy Tour

Fill your belly on this sweet tour. Join Chandler's Senior Center Tuesday, August 8 for a delicious behind-the-scenes look at the candy-making process on the Cerreta Candy Tour. The family-owned factory will show you how a sea of caramel becomes wrapped into delicious treats and cream centers are enrobed in luscious chocolate. After you've satisfied your sweet tooth head to Kiss the Cook for lunch. 
RAD Bowl-A-Thon

Be bowled and strike up some fun with Recreation and Athletics for Individuals with Disabilities (RAD) on Saturday, August 19. Grab your socks and favorite bowling ball and head over to Chandler AMF Lanes from 9:30 a.m. to noon for the annual RAD Bowl-A-Thon. This family-friendly event requires pre-registration and is sure to be right up your alley. Bowler registration fees include shoes and two hours of bowling.
