IMPORTANT!!
Medicare Enrollment
October 15 - December 7
Don't Miss Out!

You my already be enrolled in Medicare. However, during this period, you can add, change, or drop Medicare health plans and/or prescription drug coverage for next year.   If you're satisfied with your current Medicare plan, you don't need to do anything. However, plan details can change annually, so you may want to compare options to make sure your needs are covered.

Here are 3 ways to learn more:

1)  The State Health Insurance Assistance Program  (SHIP) is presenting informational programs about Medicare over the next few weeks.  These programs are free and open to the public. They aren't selling anything -- just providing information. One will be in Englewood:
Monday, Nov. 20 - 3:00 PM
SESCIL (Southeast Senior Center for Independent Living)
228 Grand Ave, Englewood

2)  Click here for information about t he Open Enrollment periods for both  Medicare and the Health Insurance Marketplaces.

3)  AARP is hosting a free information session (with lunch) at the Secaucus Library on Tuesday, November 14.
English Session:   10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Spanish Session:  12:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Call to Action to promote walking &
walkable communities

It's no secret that some of us are not as active as we used to be. To counter this, and to improve both individuals' health and community living, the Surgeon General of the U.S. encourages everyone
to get out and walk! Fall is the perfect time for a brisk walk. Even as weather worsens, our huge Shoprite and local malls are open and perfect for a walk.

To make sure Englewood is as walkable as possible, we will be hosting a walkability study in the coming weeks. We will want your input, so watch for a notice and, in the meantime, check out this website (and don't miss the videos)

What's an
"age-friendly" city?

A few years ago, the World Health Organization conducted a study of 33 cities in 22 countries and developed a  checklist of essential features of  age-friendly cities.

Age-Friendly Englewood is working with individuals, organizations and
City government to help these ideals become a reality in Englewood.
