As Annapolis begins to adjust its focus for the 2018 Session of the General Assembly, it's decision time for task forces seeking to influence this year's legislative debates. Of particular interest to county governments, the 21st Century School Facilities Commission narrows in on several possible changes to school construction funding. A call for a statewide facility assessment is clear, while chatter continues on the scope of the state's funding and the role of public-private partnerships. Any shift in state priorities for funding on this major capital expense could have a marked effect on county budgets and on the face of Maryland's K-12 education system.
