Public Hearing to be Held on the Transfer of a Restaurant Liquor License to Derry Township
A public hearing on the Troegs Brewing Company's application for the inter-municipal transfer of a Restaurant Liquor License will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Derry Township Administration Building, 600 Clearwater Road, Hershey.

The hearing will involve the transfer of Restaurant Liquor License Number R-19013 owned by R.J.'s, Inc., t/a Peg's Place, from 37 S. Market Street, Elizabethville, PA to 200 East Hersheypark Drive, Hershey.

The Board of Supervisors will consider the adoption of a resolution approving the application at their November 28, 2017, 7:00 p.m. meeting. 
Derry Township Police Department Participates in No Shave November and Nifty Nails November
You might notice something different about the Derry Township Police Department in November. Some of the members of the department have volunteered to participate in No Shave November and Nifty Nails November. The Department will relax the appearance requirements to allow the men to have facial hair and the women to use colorful nail polish.

Each employee will make a donation to a selected charity in order to participate. Derry Township is teaming up with Lower Paxton Township Police Department and all money raised will be donated to the Joe Allegrini Children's Hero Fund .
PennDOT Provides Safe Driving Tips
PennDOT reminds motorists that wet leaves, fog, sun glare, and frost are a few driving hazards they will encounter this fall, but there are steps drivers can take to help make their commutes safer. Check out PennDOT's safe driving tips for fall .

Get Shopping at the Winter Arts & Craft Show 
It's not too soon to start your holiday shopping. You'll find unique, hand crafted gifts at the Department of Parks and Recreation's 32nd Annual Arts and Craft Show on Saturday, November 4, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hershey High School, 550 Homestead Road, Hershey.

Over 150 vendors will display jewelry, home decor, baskets, wreaths, pottery, specialty foods, soap, candles, and much more! Parking and admission are free.
Stories of Air Force One with John Haigh Sr.
Sunday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m.
Western Pennsylvania resident and Author John Haigh Sr. will enthrall you with stories from his book, Air Force One: An Honor, Privilege, and Pleasure to Serve , which highlights his career as Chief Steward Air Force One serving Presidents Carter, Reagan, and George H.W. Bush. Enjoy this unique opportunity to view photos, hear personal stories, and learn about the Presidents, members of Congress, and many dignitaries John met en-route aboard Air Force One.

Play Day for Families
Friday, November 10, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Families with children ages 3-5 are invited to an hour of center-based free play that encourages children and an adult to engage in the five practices of Early Literacy, talking, singing, reading, writing, and playing. This program is part of Cruise into Kindergarten.

Feed the Need Event to Benefit the Hershey Food Bank
Join us to celebrate the Hershey Food Bank's 50th anniversary and to raise money to help continue its mission on Sunday, November 12 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hershey Country Club.

Feed the Need is an annual event which features a tasting of many delicious dishes prepared by the talented chefs of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. Along with the savory fall themed foods, you will enjoy live entertainment and a silent and live auction, made possible by many generous local individuals and businesses. Last year, the Food Bank, run solely by volunteers, distributed over 332,000 pounds of food to those in need.

Hershey Area Art Association's November 14th Meeting is “Painting to Music"
The Hershey Area Art Association's (HAAA) monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 14 will feature Mount Gretna resident Fred Swarr, a former art educator and commercial artist, who has been painting since 1969. Fred finds inspiration painting in all types of music, and in the expressions on the musicians faces as they perform. During his presentation, Fred will also talk about the paintings he created for his 60th, 65th, and 70th birthdays.

The presentation will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Hershey Derry Township Historical Society, 40 Northeast Drive, Hershey. HAAA meetings are free and open to the public. Those with an interest in the arts, whether new to art or experienced artists are welcome. Visit HAAA's website for information on memberships and classes.
Derry Seniors to Learn about Nicaragua Mission Trips
Youth and adults from Derry Church have spent a week in June working alongside local masons to build hurricane-resistant homes near Managua, Nicaragua, for 17 years. Derry Seniors will gather at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, on the lower level of Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 East Derry Road, Hershey, to learn more about the trips from Pete Feil, who organizes and leads the trip every year.

In his picture-filled presentation, Pete will share how this work has impacted the community and tell stories about the week's activities that include sharing Bible stories, playing games with children, and working with the community.

Lunch will be available in Fellowship Hall for $3 per person following devotions and the program. A pharmacist will also be on hand to answer questions regarding medications.

Derry Seniors offer adults 55 and older an opportunity to gather, socialize, and learn about people and places within the community. The group is affiliated with Derry Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). 
Spring Creek Church of the Brethren Offers Advent Bible School
Children ages 4 through 5th grade are invited to attend Advent Bible School at Spring Creek Church of the Brethren on Saturdays, November 25, December 2, 9, and 16, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. The theme is “Finding Christmas, Under the Sea.” Activities will include crafts, games, snacks, and science! Kids will do super cool things that play on the ocean theme and learn great lessons about why we celebrate Christmas.
